Blue Jays want the 2010 or 2012 ASG. I say not to any ballpark that does not have real grass. They are going to remodel Skydome, but i don't know if real grass is in the picture.

That would be about 20 years since Toronto last held the game so...

I know the Red Sox are bidding on 2012 the 100th Birthday of Fenway Park

I say we have an all star game at PEtco park. That way when they hold the home run derby the Padres can learn that it is possible to homer in Petco

San Diego last hosted the game in 1992, so it may be a few years before they do again. OTOH, the Pirates have had two games in twelve seasons. Go figure.

Here's how the future seasons SHOULD go....

2007 - SF (already finalized)
2008 - NY Yankees (seems to be the foregone conclusion to get them the game again before they tear the joint down)
2009 - St. Louis (its been WAY too long)
2010 - KC (they're renovating... it may not be done by '10... if not, swap them with TB in '12)
2011 - Arizona
2012 - TB (they're renovating too.)
2013 - Washington (their new place will be done by then)
2014 - Minn (as will theirs)
2015 - NY Mets (as will theirs)
2016 - LA Angels (its been a while)
2017 - Philly
2018 - Oakland (if they even exist then... hopefully they have a new place by then!)
2019 - LA Dodgers
2020 - Boston (maybe their new place will be done by then)
2021 - Florida (who knows where they'll be by then)
2022 - Toronto
2023 - SD

2033 - 100 anniversary game at U.S. Cellular Field

:dunno: Where's Cincinnati? It's been 18 years since their last. You have to think that they would get one in the next 5-7 years considering that they have a new ballpark.

The only problem with this is that a lot of teams, believe it or not, don't want to host an all-star game.

Wow that's interesting. Why is that? (I'm just curious, that's all)

Someone here specifically mentioned KC and the Mets as two teams who have turned down invitations in the past. Although the ASG brings in revenue and spotlights a franchise, there are supposedly many logistical headaches that go along with it as well. Seems like the revenue would overshadow those headaches, but you have to understand who you're dealing with.

Wow...that's just baffling that the Mets turned down an invitation to host the ASG. It's been 42 years since they last hosted one.

How dare you deprive the shrine otherwise known as Wrigley Field of a chance to host yet another All Star Game.

Seriously, I'd expect the Cubs to be due for the game sometime around 2010-2015. That would be about two full decades since the game was last held in the dump on the North Side.

And definitely, I'd be shocked if the White Sox got the game anytime before 2033.

I know the personnel at the White Sox who manage the customer relations employees had a lot of extra hours at the office for the Comiskey ASG.

However, hosting a ASG does wonders for lagging season ticket sales (just ask the Pirates).

I don't care who plays there. Honestly tell me that is not beautiful. Sure, it may be uncomfortable, the team suck, the fans suck, the food suck, the bathrooms suck, but it is still beautiful. A dump, yes, but a good looking one. :duck:

Yes, from those seats they are beautiful.

But if you are in the last row of the lower concourse, and have a pole in front of you, and can't see the scoreboard, or any pop fly, while trying to watch a 1980's TV for highlights, while smelling the urinal smell around you. I argue then, not beautiful.

Honestly?

Ok.

Its not beautiful. The sky in the photo is, but the Cubs don't play in the sky.

Yes, I admit that's a beautiful sunset. It's too bad they don't have nice sunsets at the other major league parks. That's why Wrigley is so great!

I think you pretty much said it: "it may be uncomfortable, the team suck, the fans suck, the food suck, the bathrooms suck," Sorry, you can only polish a turd so much.

To answer the question though, Wrigely won't get the ASG until 2020 or sometime thereafter. It'll take that long just to go through the list of teams with new ballparks that haven't hosted yet. By 2020, it'll have been 30 years since the last ASG at the Urinal. Since there are 30 teams, they would be about due to host. If you think the Urinal is outmoded now, just wait until 2020.
