Read this while looking at my fantasy baseball league's free agent.

Jim Molony, of MLB.com, reports the Chicago White Sox have recently scouted Houston Astros 2B Chris Burke.

Thoughts?

He is a tremendously talented hitter.... he can play 2B or the outfield... but I am not sure his defense in centerfield is much better than Mackowiak's

He would be an awesome addition offensively, but i would love to see us get a true OF, not a team full of 2b/ss that we stick in the OF

I loved that kid in the WS. He was a beast, tough out, hit the ball hard, a true gamer. He can play for my White Sox ANY DAY OF THE WEEK! He's got big upside too. Chone Figgins without the speed.

I thought we have a second basemen. Let's not be cubs south and start 9 second basemen in one game.

I would like this move. He can play CF if Anderson is traded and he can play 2B if Iguchi is hurt.

I like Burke, hes only a year or two removed from being a top prospect in the Astros organization. He can play 2nd base, and a little bit of outfield, but as people said hes more of an offensive threat and a bit of a defensive liability even in the OF.

Burke is the ultimate "grinder". I recall being impressed by 3 guys on the Astros last October: Berkman, Taveres and Burke. I'd take him over Cintron.

Is this the guy the below .500 NL Astros just sent down, because they needed hitting help?
Can he play SS? I don't think so. Cintron can.

AVG .298 | HR 5 | RBI 24 | OBP .376 | SLG .483

Was sent down? Chris Burke is one of the only bright spots on offense, for the Astros.

No, that would be Jason Lane.

Chris Burke is a 2B who has been playing in the OF while Biggio finishes out his final years.

I'd definitely be in favor of getting Burke. He just needs a chance to play everyday. I don't see how he fits in here long term though. Burke isn't a guy you go after to solidify your bench. That said, I have no clue why the Astros would trade him away. Biggio probably only has another year left in him, if that, and then Burke can play everyday at 2B.

My mistake, got them mixed up.
Aubrey paid dividends in game 1...really nice pick-up for them.

He has gotten better offensively. In the last 17 games he's raised his average .040 points. They look like this (average going in to this was .152):
June 11 - 2 for 4, .163
June 12 - 1 for 3, .167
June 13 - 0 for 3, .167
June 15 - 1 for 4, .165
June 16 - 2 for 5, .174
June 17 - 1 for 4, .176
June 20 - 1 for 4, .178
June 28 - 0 for 3, .174
June 29 - 1 for 3, .177
June 30 - 0 for 3, .174
July 1 - 1 for 4, .176
July 3 - 0 for 3, .173
July 4 - 1 for 4, .174
July 5 - 0 for 0, .174
July 6 - 2 for 4, .182
July 7 - 1 for 2, .185
July 9 - 2 for 4, .192

That's a .280 average with 7 doubles, 1 HR, 8 RBI's, 5 BB and 7 K's. In the last 10 games, he's only K'd 3 times. He's getting better. I'm as anxious as everyone else to see what else is available, but Anderson (lately) is doing just fine.
