Which of these four teams will NOT make the playoffs?

Is there a link?

Edit: Nevermind.

I voted for the Yankees. Outside of Mussina and Rivera, their pitching doesn't scare me. The offense isn't what it used to be without Sheffield and Matsui, although it appears Giambi has found an undetectable substance to use to boost his numbers.

For me it was between any of the three teams (the White Sox option was for Homefish :redneck ). The key is what happens between now and July 31. If New York can get one or two starters they should be in good shape and I think they will play better in the second half.

I think it will be tight just like last season for the wild card and AL East title. If Dombrowski can get a bat or two that will really help Detroit's chances. Rumor has it they are going with a six man rotation (when Maroth returns) to help all their young pitchers down the stretch. Whether that helps them make it through September or hurts their timing remains to be seen.

I don't think Boston is a lock either. They played us tough but Clement looks like **** in rehab, Wells can't be counted on for anything. Lester gives up many baserunners (we failed to take advantage Friday  ) so beyond Schilling and Beckett (who is due for a blister problem) their staff is not making me quiver (though in a five game series they will be tougher than last year if their two best are healthy and effective).

Busted leg - Care to explain your White Sox selection?

Or lose another wager?

Where is the rest of the drinking team - Do they not venture into the Clubhouse anymore?

It should be a great second half.

Let it be known that I wanted to vote for Boston but selected the White Sox.

Although I think both teams will make it along with the AL East division champion Yankees.

The entire Tiggers rotation is having career years - by a lot. Leyland or no, the chances of that continuing is slim. The only question is, will they fade or crash. I'm seeing crash.

Excuses excuses. :D:

Lay off the sauce before noon and you'll be able to correctly vote on the important issues of the day.

Everyone else predicted us to crash last year and we didn't.

I think they fade, but make the playoffs.

The only sauce I had today was the butter on my noodles.

AL playoff teams:

AL Central : Chicago White Sox
AL East: New York Yankees
AL West: Seattle Mariners (for the hell of it)
Wild Card: Boston Red Sox

So Tiger23 constantly talks about how he thinks the White Sox will pass the Tigers, yet his vote is for the White Sox.

Wouldn't your vote for who doesn't make the playoffs be the tigers then?

That's how I would like it to go so I win a bet.

I think they fade, but make the playoffs. This completely irrelevant argument is starting to annoy me. How in the world does what someone predicted last year have any relevance to what WILL happen this year (or last year, for that matter)? Whether they crash or not will be determined by the players on the field, not by anyone's predictions or parallels with last year's predictions.

The players on the field have a track record, and that record does not inspire one with confidence that their first half performance is anything more than a fluke.

Edit: I'm going to go way out on a limb and predict Pablo Ozuna doesn't hit .413 the rest of the year, either.

*******s right here:
Chips (http://www.whitesoxinteractive.com/vbulletin/member.php?u=5559), otis (http://www.whitesoxinteractive.com/vbulletin/member.php?u=1559), Tiger23 (http://www.whitesoxinteractive.com/vbulletin/member.php?u=8890)

I don't believe that excuse either, Chips.

I voted for the Yankees. They just signed Sidney Ponson so if they think he's going to save their season, then they don't deserve to make it.

2 things to keep in mind about Boston.

They have only played 37 home games and they have TEN games to play against Kansas City ( The Yankees play the Royals only 3 more times )

Boston is in desperate need for a 5th starter. Clement is on the verge of being shut down after having a dead arm in a rookie league game. David Wells? Last report he says his knee is getting better. :?:

Boston does have 2 west coast trips in front of them but the left coast hasn't been a big problem for them in recent years. In Oakland it will be like a home game for them. (they play 6 there)

I chose the Yanks. Their core they have had forever is getting over the hill and I don't think they'll be able to pull through like they usually do. I say DET's 2nd half record drops off a bit too, but not by as much as NY's.

The Yankmees pitching staff, with the exception of Mussina,
looks brutal. They get my vote.Hell,George Costanza and Cosmo
Kramer would fare better on the bump than Jaret Wright or
Sidney Pontoon (I mean Ponson).:D:

Isn't that bogus?? I say they be banned and forced to join a Cubs board where polls are along the lines of...

"How long till Dusty goes?" or
"Will we manage to avoid last place?"

More often than not, Boston craps their pants when they play the Yankmees late in the season, especially if they're close to each other. Therefore I see the Red Sox on the first fairway around October 3. Detroit will not win the division (the Sox will), but they will win the Wild Card.

Yeah, how'd the Sox get three votes? I thought Homefish and BigRedRudy were banned. :D:

If things don't change drastically, NY is the odd man out.

Chips made a mistake in voting and the other two are here as Tigers fans who as far as I know are not trolling here (Mods make those calls).

No need for "banning" talk.
