The White Sox get to play the A's in both rounds? They really want to find out if the Oakland curse is broken don't they.

Nice to see them give us another cover! Now maybe SI will give us one when we win maybe our 3rd title in a row??

Beat me too it.

I think ESPN is arranging this so they can nonstop talk about how we let Frank go.

We'll beat the Mets in the World Series 4 games to 2.

Can't happen since the Mets aren't going to be there. They are built as a great regular season team...will have all kinds of problems come the playoffs unless they actually get some starting pitching. Glavine is 40. Pedro is hurt (what new?). Don't let the big division lead fool you, the Mets are in T-R-O-U-B-L-E.

Not bad but id really like to see milwaukee sneak into the world series, if they could just stay above bloody .500!!!

That is what is actually a prediction that I had myself! I think by the time we play Boston in the ALCS we will be in stride.

Don't let an SI snub bother you. Any magazine with a swimsuit issue can't be considered a serious sports publication.

What are you talking about? Many years the swim suit issue was the only sports happening worth looking forward to :D:

You are looking at the prediction from before the season. They pick the Tigers and Sox to go to the postseason now.

But not as much as the A's who will be advancing to the ALCS despite losing the Division Series.

How could we not let them adcance with that healthy, team on-base?

Exactly, plus there are no such thing as five-tools, screw defense and speed. Those get you absolutely nowhere in the postseason.

What's Vegas saying. The sports book folks there are more credible.

So the Yankees are going to make up 8 games on the Tigers? Good prediction. They don't have the Yankees in their updated predictions. They had them in the playoffs in their preseason prediction. SN predicts the Yankees won't be in the postseason.

What's Vegas saying. The sports book folks there are more credible.
According to tradesports.com right now, where the contracts follow the sportsbook odds in Las Vegas:

AL East Division Winner: Boston Red Sox (59%)
AL Central Division Winner: Chicago White Sox (57%... Detroit Tigers at 41.2%)
AL West Division Winner: Oakland A's (45%)

NL East Division Winner: New York Mets (96%)
NL Central Division Winner: St. Louis Cardinals (74%)
NL West Division Winner: San Diego Padres (34.6%... Los Angeles Dodgers at 32.6%)

NL Wild Card Winner: San Diego Padres and Los Angeles Dogers tied (15%... San Francisco Giants at 13%... Cinncinnati Reds at 12%)
AL Wild Card Winner: Detroit Tigers (34.5%... Chicago White Sox at 30%)

NL Pennant Winner: New York Mets (32.5%... St. Louis Cardinals at 24%)
AL Pennant Winner: Chicago White Sox (24%... Boston Red Sox at 20.3%)

World Series Winner: New York Mets (15.6%... Chicago White Sox at 14.5%)

Quick explanation of odds on tradesports.com and similar exchanges:

In every category, every team has a percentage chance of winning and adding the percentages of each team winning adds to 100%. (For reference, the Chicago Cubs chance of winning the 2006 World Series is 0.01% this morning.) The percentages convert to $10 contract/bet pricing, so a 14.5% chance means a $1.45 cost to make a $10 bet/buy a $10 contract.

In other words, that last bet of $1.45 (representing 14.5% odds) on the Chicago White Sox to win the 2006 World Series would net you $8.55 ($10.00 payout minus the $1.45 cost) if the Chicago White Sox win the World Series.

But not as much as the A's who will be advancing to the ALCS despite losing the Division Series.I read the SN article and they had the BoSox vs the Sox in the ALCS. The Original Poster just wrote what he saw in his Sporting News and accidentally made a mistake in putting the A's there twice. The actual published article is correct.

ROCKIES ? yea right!!!!

No kidding. Despite their current lead in the standings, I have extreme doubts that the NL Wild Card is going to come from the West.

I'd like a 3 way tie (playoff games!) between the Phils, Reds and Astros.
