Yep, 447, over the first tier of ivy in centerfield.

To put that in perspective, that would have easily made it into the centerfield bleachers at old Comiskey. The list of guys who did that was not much more than 10 or 12 long.

I saw Thome's 448 footer and now this one. Just a question: do they measure it as to where it lands relative to home plate or do they do some crazy calculations and figure out how far it would have gone if nothing was in it's path but the ground?

I love the comments DJ made after he hit it. Not exact quotes:

DJ: "Balls aren't supposed to land up there Hawk."

DJ: "He was looking for something in and got something out over the plate and just said 'Well, I might as well hit this one too.'"

They also mentioned that he used mostly his upper body to muscle that one out. I can't imagine how far it would travel if he put his entire body into it. When it first left his bat I figured it was going to be a long fly out to center. :redface:
