Okay I just missed it because of this whole job thing, but the local St Louis station(AM 590) said they were having former Rookie Of The Year Ron Kittle on the radio this morning. He's selling benches made out of bats, balls and bases. Is he making them himself or is he the spokesperson? Anyone know about this?

Did a google search for him and bench. Click on the image for enlarged photo.

He makes them himself. I believe he has been doing it commercially for several years now.

Are those things even comfortable? Nothing quite like a baseball in your back...

I told my neighbor, who happens to be the manager of the Bob Feller Museum in Feller's home town Van Meter Iowa, about these benches and he filled out the on-line questionaire/order form and within a few minutes Ron Kittle himself called him. My neighbor said he sounded like a really good guy, and Kittle is even thinking about making a bench for the museum.

No, they don't look comfortable, but they look pretty cool and you can't argue that they're not unique.

He was on Channel 7 this morning. Hosea Sanders refered to him as Ron "Kitlee"

Yes, he does. Also, they are meant to be more of a piece of art rather than a sitting apparatus.

There is a World Series one also.

...bench contains bats from some of the stars of the 2005 World Series Champions. Players authentic bats that are used in this piece include Juan Uribe and Tadahito Iguchi for the arms. Paul Konerko, Aaron Rowand, Jermaine Dye, Joe Crede, Frank Thomas, A.J. Pierzynski, Scott Podsednick and Carl Everett comprise the back...

That sounds pretty cool. But $3,000 for this bench. I'll have to put that on my Christmas list.

I've sat on 'em. They're not that bad, just like sitting on a park bench. I'd like a barstool fashioned in the same style. That's a winning idea right there.

I don't know if there is any copyright infringements on that idea as there's a bar in St. Louis with similar barstools.
