Found this little gem in the "From the Cubicle" article today by Rahula Strohl.

The result of all this losing is that our readers' All-City Team is the White Sox, and it doesn't appear that it's because some techie rigged it (as has been the case in recent years). Y'all just seem to think the White Sox are substantially better at each position, and you are, as we say in the business, "not wrong."

That was fun although it wasn't the All-City voting. It was Chicago "Survivor". :D:

Without using names, I'd like to know how it was rigged.

In like 2003 or 2004, WSI rigged the online voting for the All-City Team. The Sox got like 99% of the votes at each position.

You make that sound like a bad thing...

I wouldn't say rigged. There was a glitch in the Cubune's voting system that Sox fans happened to find and exploit first. Once Cubs fans found out about it, they started doing it too.

They started to make a comeback but they weren't as organized as us. Then we all geeked out and got giddy and i believe mods were even voting like mad. It was pretty funny. The cubs fans gave up at that point. I believe that's where the Sox Army came from also.

I know it was done last year. I would like it if someone could explain in more detail what the glitch was and how it was exploited.

This website (http://www.yzzerdd.com/) has a pretty good explanation.

I think what's really funny is that after the Cubune realized what was going on, they printed specific instruction on how to do it so that Cubs fans could figure it out and try to catch up.

IIRC, they blamed it on some "techno-geeks". :D:

I've rocked out a few times to "It's time for the Peculator" does that make me a Techno-geek?

As far as I know, I was the first techno-geek to figure it out. :supernana:
