My God, I just turned on the Cubs game on some Flub fan was holding a sign that said "The Blanc-o-meter .233 and rising"....Is it just me or is it sad to be holding up a sign in tribute to your backup catchers .233 average....

Well, I think the guy was hitting about .055 like 2 weeks ago or something but it is still pathetic.

Well the simple reason is his name ends in "o" making it ideal for a ____-o-meter.

Maybe the guy was being sarcastic.

Or he was referring to Mel Blanc, the original voice of Bugs Bunny, Porky Pig, Daffy Dug, Sylvester and Tweety, Woody Woodpecker, Foghorn Leghorn, Hennery Hawk, etc., etc., etc.

233 being the number of voices he did on Looney Toons alone.

He should have made his sign in TEAL.

Unrelated to this thread, but Mel Blanc was allergic to carrots. Ironic, no?

Ironically enough, Henry Blanco is allergic to Northern White Ash. Something to think about.

Back in February ("Jack Benny Month") Chuck Schaden played an interview on his radio show that he did with Mel Blanc about a year before he died. As you may recall he was in a horrible car accident and pretty much ended up in a full body cast. Once he started recovering, he obviously had a lot of time on his hands, so he decided to count the number of voices he did. The number he came up with was over 400.

I'm a huge fan of Ross Gload, what's the difference?

Mel Blanc also did the voice of Twiki the robot, on the short lived T.V. show "Buck Rogers". (Ahh...memories) I think he died shortly thereafter.

They need to have the Demp O meter

Rating how many pitches it will take for Dempster to blow the lead for yet another game.

I would laugh at Blanco except that right now he is their most potent offensive threat. His last 13 games he's going 378/383/689 with 5 doubles and 3 HR. His OPS is over 1.000. The way he's hitting right now I will be glad to see Barrett back for our series against them.

I can just imagine Kasper/Brenly/Hughes/Santo:
"You've gotta love how great these Cub fans are. Look at that Blancometer sign out there in the stands. These fans are the best! What more can you ask for than to have great fans, an old scoreboard, and ivy? Have some more koolaid, everyone! Drink up!"

The CUBS fans should have a BLANK-O-METER to keep track of all the times they've been shutout. I haven't checked the official stats but I'd bet they lead the league in being zipped.
