One of the more impressive wins of the year, in my opinion. So many ways this game could have been a letdown, a "trap" game. But, just enough execution to win.

Maybe not the prettiest win, but we'll take it!:bandance:

Way to maintain that 2 game deficit. Let's just say that since Houston is sucking right now.

Not exactly a glorious victory, but a victory nonetheless. Buehrle was solid. McCarthy and Jenks were sharp. I would like to see better baserunning and offensive execution tomorrow.

Didn't get to use my "Uh oh, bye bye" sign with the picture of DJ on it, but I'm not complaining about the outcome.

For $35 I got 7 rows behind the Sox dugout. Close enough to yell at Ozzie for bringing in first McCarthy and then Gload and then admitting that both proved me wrong.

where was Brian Anderson? Not even an appearance as a 9th inning defensive replacement. I thought his suspension ended after Sunday's game.

Ross Gload, great stretch at 1B on the Joe Crede throw to 1B. That's why I think Gload should be used in the 9th inning on defense of all close games. He's a little better on D than Paulie or Thome, kind of like in the Dave Bergman, Tony Muser, Mike Squires mold. A late inning defensive specialist.

Great defense by Joe Crede and Iguchi tonite. Bullpen looked mighty solid tonight. Great win to keep the pressure on Detroit.

Sox looked just good enough tonight and they didn't even come close to playing their best baseball. This team is looking good.

I love this team! :D:

I was surprised Ozzie didn't put Gload in to run for Thome in the top of the ninth. He might have scored on that double and it would have protected Thome from a possible muscle pull from chugging around the bases.

All's well that ends well! :gulp:

Can someone explain why Thome was running the bases in the 9th if he was done for the night? Gload possibly, Pablo probably could have scored on JD's double.

Everything else was cream cheese tonight.

whew! I was a nervous nellie that whole game after the sox bungled up on the basepaths early.

All I can think is that ozzie thought he better not take out Thome in case we went extra innings and then changed his mind.

Maybe he is gunshy after taking all those guys out early on Sunday nite.

I was dismayed that Thome could not score in the first on a two out base hit to right field. Wasn't he off with the crack of the bat? That of course killed that rally with AJ then screwing up.

And why pods took off with such a bad lead off second after advertising his intentions several times is beyond me. Course JD then gets a hit that would have scored him.

Randa just about cooked our goose in this game- s.o.b. is tough on the sox.

Alls well that ends well. It feels like the sox cannot afford to lose any games to NL teams or under .500 AL teams now. tigers on fire.

Though Buehrle looked a bit shakey from time to time, he did get the job done and got the outs he needed when he needed them. I can't say enough for Iguchi's glove. He's deserving to be an All Star.

It's time to get going on another great winning streak. Only five games remain before returning to AL competition.

"It's a little frustrating facing them," Ian Snell said. "You have to battle against a team like that and it's hard. They do every little thing they need to win. They're perfect in almost every aspect. It's unreal."

If it were me I think I would've used Gload to pinch run for Thome in the 9th. It's a short game at this point.

I hope Ozzie starts using Gload at 1B more and more in the 9th when we have a lead. The guy can play great D, plus that would save Paulie's legs a little bit down the stretch and keep him fresh too for the dog days of the season.

It is one thing to doubt you can come back from being down 8 in the 7th. But when you have the lead, you'd better have a little more confidence in your bullpen than that!

Goddam, what a beautiful ballpark.

On the flipside, tho, this hotel is a dump. Oh, sure they have this "Internet" thing in the prime ministerial suite, but where's the vodka I ordered? My venison is getting cold and still they haven't brought the horseradish! I shall file a complaint in the morning via my travelling manservant.

I was at the game with none other than the Hostest with the Mostest, SOXintheBurgh. That man knows how to welcome a foreign delegation with style and class. I didn't pay for a drink all night. And they still won't bring the vodka! What a dump! And the Stilton! Where is the ****ing Stilton I asked for?! The attorneys will be hard at work tomorrow.

Other than that, the Strip is very charming. I took lunch at a nice Vietnamese place.

Vodka! Where is the vodka?!

Buehrle's sac bunt was a thing of beauty.

With this win, all I can say his "Phew !" I had more a sense of relief than the normal giddiness when it was over. Great job on the mound by #56, but after about the 5th inning or so, I kept having this weird, bad feeling that something bad was going to happen. When Joe Randa just missed that grand slam, and wound up flying out to Podsednik for a sac fly, my stomach just dropped. With the Pirates having lost 11 in a row, I was hoping the law of averages wouldn't catch up. Then, when the Sox kept getting all those hits, (including 2 leadoff doubles), but not scoring anymore 'till the 9th, even Hawk was saying he didn't like the way the game was going. I'm just glad they got the win. Go get 'em tonight too guys.
