View Full Version : strange game at Fenway Monday afternoon

Phillies and the Red Sox played a makeup game Monday and it was anything but dull. Boston scores 6 in the 6th, the Phillies then score 5 in the 7th off Boston's awful middle relief.

Papelbon came in to put out a fire in the 8th but in the 9th gave up a homer ( off Pesky's pole )for a blown save and the game went extra. In the 12th the Phillies went ahead 7-6 but Boston came back with 2 in the bottom of the 12th when who else but Ortiz delivered the game winning single with 2 outs.

Boston has now won 9 straight against the NL East after looking awful against the Twins 2 weeks ago. Now the Mets visit Boston so be prepared for plenty of stories on Pedro's return and the 1986 World Series.

I think the Mets will spank Boston or at least win the series when they play. The Mets seem to be the only team worth a **** in the N.L anymore these days.

Why don't folks just skip posters and/or threads they don't like? There's enough of a variety here for everybody.

I think it has to do with the fact that Jonathan "The Red Messiah" Papelbon blew a save.

The catch Coco Crisp made last night was the best I have seen in perhaps 30 years ( Thank you Indians )
