I found this while browsing CNN's website. Their sports news links over to SI, so I guess you're routed from CNN.com --> SI.com, but this is one Class A (pun intended, as you'll see) temper tantrum by SAL's Asheville Tourists manager.

If you're a fan of Tony LaRussa's yanking 3rd base out of the ground and tossing it, you'll LOVE this video clip!

http://www.cnn.com/si/2006/baseball/more/06/26/manager.ejection.ap/index.html?cnn=yes

Hey Lip, when was the infamous Tony LaRussa tosses the base game, anyhow? I think I was there for that one, but I've seen the video for that so many times, I might be mistaken...

Gotta love him pouring the juice over the plate and slamming the bottle.

One of the funniest manager/umpire arguements I have ever seen!!!

What's even funnier is that I doubt Lip looks in Minor Observations much simply because of his disdain for minor leaguers; to him their only value is in what they can bring back in trade.

what was that guy thinking. That guy on second is Roger Clemens' son by the way.

It would have been awesome if he just punched him and said "thats for being Clemens' son."

I like him already. Maybe after Kenny fires Ozzie, we can give this guy a contract

This is one of those kinds of things that you never expect to actually happen in real life, just in movies and stuff like that.

At what point does the umpire motion for security to come out and escort that jackass off the field ? That was one of the most disgusting, ridiculous displays I've seen a coach or player do at any level of play. What a moron. I hope that league suspends him for 50 games.

WOW!!

That started out kind of slow, but once it took off...YIKES!

That guy's probably going to be suspended for a couple of years!

I liked the part where they played "You've Lost That Lovin' Feelin.'"

Or how about "Hit The Road, Jack" as he finally walked off into the sunset?

That was one of the most disgusting, ridiculous displays I've seen a coach or player do at any level of play.

To his defense, he never hurt anything besides some equipment and perhaps an umpires feelings. There have been a whole lot of other incidents worse than this like Delmon Young throwing a bat at the ump. I'm sure the umps had to be cracking up under their skin after all was said and done.

I honestly thought he was about 4 years old for a long part of it. The ump. definitely overshadows him.

After berating the ump, he should've just left. After he tossed the base, he should have left. After he threw his hat, he should have left. After he threw the ball, he should have left. Then he starts kicking dirt on an ump that did nothing in that situation. I don't know why security was not down there. Our coach argued with an ump after a game and had security restraining him. This guy then starts throwing bats and pouring water on home plate-throws the bottle and nobody does anything. You have to love the "hit the Road Jack." I started busting out laughing. He deserves at least 15-20 games and a nice fine for his actions, but I don't think anyone will be promoting him for a long while.

I went back and listened to it. Definitely did not notice that at first. I tured up the volume and that was hilarious!

"I could get two mannequins at Sears and umpire better than what I saw this whole series."

This guy is the ****...that head first slide into second was money.

I just noticed that this guy's team is an affiliate of the Colorado Rockies - you know, the organization that has made a point recently of claiming allegiance to a, umm, Higher Power.

Note to management: Joe Mikulik looks like he's on the Devil's team.

Agree. I still can't get over this quote:

I don't think I ever lost total control, though it may look like it.

So it was all a charade? I might prefer to see somebody just lose their temper . . .

Any word on what he got for this? 10 games? 15 games?
