From Beaver County Times

Pirates reliever Roberto Hernandez is reportedly drawing plenty of trade inquiries, with the Chicago White Sox said to be one of the suitors. The Pirates, though, are likely to wait until closer to the July 31 non-waiver deadline to deal Hernandez as they like having him as a back-up closer and mentor to first-year closer Mike Gonzalez.

The Roberto from 10 years ago? Hell yeah.

Seriously though, I'd probably take him now as well. I'd rather have Roberto over Politte when Cliff comes back.

This is my 50th season rooting for the Sox, so I have many "favorites". Roberto Hernandez would make my top 20. In his prime he was everything a closer should be.

Peter Gammons reported this during the game last night as well.

I guess this would be a great move if Politte and Hermanson come back and are ineffective? But, what happens if Politte and Hermanson return to 05 form? Riske looks friggin awesome - AND with Politte, Hermanson, Hernandez??

That's too many damn pitchers. Wait, that's a good problem. :D:

I don't see how Hernandez ISN'T an upgrade over Cliff or Montero. He maybe old, but he looks like he still has enough talent, and he'll bring a veteran presence to a young bullpen.

I love how everyone is ready to give up on Cliff. Bobby better not blow a save from now til the trading deadline or he'll be run outta of town if it was up to some fans here.

Wait a little while longer and raid the Phillies relief corps.

Is it just me or is every player who is potentially on the trading block rumored to be coming to the White Sox?

I agree with the writer up a few.Top 20 of my favorite White Sox players all all time. He would bring a veteran presence to a young stff. Go Kenny

Well, the Sox are underachieving and the bullpen did blow it last night...

I'll always be a fan of him, but right now, at his age, I'm getting Mike Jackson flashbacks...not as bad of course, but still a once dominating reliver in the twilight of a great carear
