The tomahawk chop, lets discuss it. It's done. Way done. It had its day, but that day was one when Otis Nixon was patrolling the outfield.

Admittedly, I thought it was really cool at the time, but I was also 10 years old at the time.

Stop it.

Stop it. I always thought it was stupid. I think that the humming while doing the chop is more annoying then the chop itself.

I hate how they do it even when the opposing pitcher dominated them.

Does anyone know who did it first---Florida St. or the Braves?

It was FSU who started that "tradition" The Braves copied when they went on their streak in the 90's.

Dear Atlanta Braves fans,

Your streak is over. Try to absorb the blow in bits from now until the end. It'll only get worse, with that bullpen you've got. Better luck next year, but before you even try to say it, I know you've been down over ten games before and still rallied to win the division.

There's a key difference between then and now: then, you had the best team. Now? Not so much.

PS: Tom Glavine sure wasn't worth resigning, eh?

It's as dumb as the rally monkey!!!

True story: I was at the Charlie Haegar debacle, and two Angels fans were sitting a few rows in front of me. It was a girl and a guy. The girl looked normal; but, the guy didn't. Hanging around his neck (in a "hugging from behind" manner) was a RALLY MONKEY!!! I looked in disbelief.

Their "run" might be ending this year, but they still have $5 seats to an MLB game! :bandance:

I had to sit through this stupid chant when I flew to Atlanta a few months ago to check out a couple SOX games. They were doing it all the time, even though we completely dominated them both games . I think it's not really the fans choice to start it, the PA just starts playing that chant music and everyone follows along. Either way, it should stop.

Well, it looks like we won't be subjected to the "chop" in the postseason this year.

Is the chant what inspired the music to the song "Shake Your Tail Feather?" It sounds remarkably close.

It's as dumb as the rally monkey!!! Nothing is as dumb as the rally monkey.

What does that say about your team? That you've made such a practice of being behind in games that you need something like that to try to inspire a comeback?

I'm sure not all their fans like the "chop" thing. I hated the "O-E-O Magglio" chant that was used at the Cell when Ordonez played here.

True, that was really ridiculous

and i'm sure they don't all like or partake in it, it just looks so bad on tv to see thousands of people "chopping" along to a 6 run defeat

I also remember the Kansas City Chiefs doing it, about 10-15 years ago.
What cracks me up is the P.A. in Atlanta starts playing it for even the most minor thing. I've seen/heard it start playing when the Braves get a 1 out single.

Yeah they were definately playing it last night as they were down like 5 runs in the 8th, with little to no momentum building

The chant is great when FSU does it. Why? Because 65,000+ fans do it in unison along with the bands.

Yet it's awful when Atlanta does it. For some reason 100 little kids and senior citizens with foam tomahawks doing it to a distorted PA playback just doesn't compare.

Yeah, I guess they do sound very much alike. And come to think of it, they played that over the PA several times. Conspiracy?!

Is the Tomahawk Chop more annoying than that awful pounding drum in Cleveland? I vote no.

Unless Time-Warner sells the Braves, they are going to continue a steady decline back into the abyss they crawled from in the early '90's.

I always think of these two ass clowns when I think of the chop

I feel odd saying this, but I think it would be cool for the Sox to steal that chant and use it for Joe Crede. Can you imagine how awesome it would be if Joe came to the plate to "Jooooooooooe, Jooooooe, Joooe!" Especially against the Braves if we ever played them? We'd have to stop that annoying chop though.

The Atlanta Braves...are in last place. That hasn't happened since, what, 1990? Wow.

Hahah...for some reason I thought that was hilarious. ROFLMAO! :D:
