What a game by Big Jon. 8 solid innings. 2 runs scored including a homerun. Did anyone else heat Thunderstruck being played in the back ground in the 9th inning. I know this should not be posted her but my ex wife and I are 5-0 in watching SOX games together.

Did anyone else notice that Garland's elbow was higher on his release than it has been, and that he started to drop down again in the ninth? Maybe Garland's problems haven't been mental after all. Maybe they have just been mechanical. If so, he'll probably pitch a lot better from here one out. He looks like he's figuring it out.

Great roadtrip. 6-1 with plenty of good pitching performances against 2 good hitting teams. A nice way to respond to the crap that was the Toronto/Cleveland trip.

Garland was outstanding today, lets hope he keeps it going.

The Sox are now 12-2 against the Reds all time.

Garland just beat Buehrle in a personal bet...LOL! Buehrle will NEVER live Garland's home run down. When he hit that, I was thinking to myself "Are you friggen kidding me?!" Even Hawk's expression was priceless!!!

What an outing by Jon Garland. That has to be his greatest outing ever, if not one of his greatest outings (as a whole).

Let's get the Cards next.

The first 5 innings was a little rough from a batting standpoint. When they had all those strikeout in the beginning and Iguchi failed TWICE with runners on second and third, I started to get a little frustrated. Kudos to Jon for keeping it together until the bats finally started clicking.

At the game Friday night as the words to Take Me Out To The Ballgame scrolled on the screen it said:
"...Root root root for the Redlegs..."
Apparently, at least if they need an extra syllable, they still use it.

What a great series. The Reds fans were extremely friendly Friday, I wonder if they're still as gracious today. What a performance by Jon today. Keep it up!!!

Garland's HR is the first by a Sox pitcher since Steve Kealey on 9/6/71. You gotta love this quote the Reds' manager:

"Those guys don't have any holes over there," Reds manager Jerry Narron marveled. "They won the World Series last year, and they're playing better than they did a year ago. After they've won it, they believe in themselves."

Pretty interesting to note where Kealey ended up, too. He never played for them, though...

Sent by the Chicago White Sox (http://www.baseball-reference.com/teams/CHW/1973.shtml) to the Cincinnati Reds (http://www.baseball-reference.com/teams/CIN/1973.shtml) to complete an earlier deal made on August 29, 1973. The Chicago White Sox (http://www.baseball-reference.com/teams/CHW/1973.shtml) sent a player to be named later to the Cincinnati Reds (http://www.baseball-reference.com/teams/CIN/1973.shtml) for Jim McGlothlin (http://www.baseball-reference.com/m/mcgloji01.shtml). The Chicago White Sox (http://www.baseball-reference.com/teams/CHW/1973.shtml) sent Steve Kealey (http://www.baseball-reference.com/k/kealest01.shtml) (October 2, 1973) to the Cincinnati Reds (http://www.baseball-reference.com/teams/CIN/1973.shtml) to complete the trade.

Kudos to the three consecutive Redlegs Postgame Thread titles. :D:

Kudos also go to the White Sox for their 7th sweep of the season (6 three game sweeps & 1 two game sweep) while never getting swept on the season (we have 10 sweeps since the beginning of September 2005 including the playoffs - The "White Flag" "Don't know where the **** we are from" Angels are the last team who swept us (Sept 9-11).

Garland on his game. The offense comes alive late. Garland induced 16 ground balls / Ks which is what he should be doing - Mackowiak should be able to play during Garland starts if he could return to last season's form of keeping the ball in the infield.

Harang had a good start but the Reds are just another opponent who wishes they have our (much (unfairly) maligned) bullpen.

He's been doing it for years and it drives me nuts. Today he asked for Thome to hit a grand slam when Iguchi was up with a 3-2 count hoping Gooch would walk and Thome would put one in the seats. He does it all the ****ing time.

It was great reading the Cincy press coverage. The headline from Saturday's game was "No lead is safe" No **** Sherlock! This is the Chicago WHITE SOX you'er playing, not the posers up north.

The Reds' fans sitting around me at Friday's game (long time season ticket holders, I was in the 100 level section between the Reds' dugout and the screen-8th row) were stunned by the performance. They asked me who our biggest star is, I told them it's a different guy each night. I warned them that Contreras was pitching the next night and he would put on a clinic. They never heard of him-kept asking for his name over and over.

The Cincy paper does not devote the same number of inches to covering the Reds as the Tribune does to either Chicago team, BTW. Now, the Bengals, well, that is a special edition of the paper.......

Great series all around. Got nervous on saturday, but take some clutch hitting, add a dash of that Cincy defense, and things turned out great. Count me as one of those who actually burst out laughing when Garland hit that one into the seats. That was a freaking awesome game. I'm so happy for Jon! When he hit that homerun it was just crazy.

Is there a link to it somewhere? The MLB site only seems to have highlights from the Redlegs broadcast.
