Just saw this on the cubune...I'm particularly happy to see #2 Long, #3 Edwards, and #10 Cruz are already in the fold. I bet we get McCulloch in the next few weeks as well...

Randar,

If you could add which team they report to that would be great. Thanks.

BTW, I know you follow this more than I do but besides our #1 any other signings that you think are our top priority?

The 1st two picks of day 2 are high potential guys that fell. They won't sign unless the Sox offer top 5-10 round money.

If we get Duffy, Clor, Dunbar, and Kapteyn signed this draft will have been an extreme success. With our increased revenue one has to think management would be willing to throw six figures their way.

Randar,

BTW, I know you follow this more than I do but besides our #1 any other signings that you think are our top priority?

As Chisoxfn and others have said, the top 10-15 rounds are always the priority. I don't think any of those guys should be too difficult to sign. Duffy and Clor are the 2 in that group that may be a little more difficult to sign as they are HS players committed to D1 programs, IIRC.

The first 2 picks of Day 2 were Dunbar and Kapteyn. Dunbar is a draft-eligible sophomore who struggled but came on strong the last month of the draft. Kapteyn was a top-5 round talent that slid due to signability. He is very projectible and the Sox will watch him this summer before they make a run at him. He's reportedly already let the team know what it will take to sign him. Kid is a big Sox fan... born and raised.

Also, a note from today's Tribune (06/14):

The Sox are close to an agreement with Texas pitcher Kyle McCulloch, their first-round pick in the amateur draft, on a signing bonus worth more than $1 million.

McCulloch is projected to start his professional career at Advanced Rookie Great Falls, which starts its season June 20.

The Sox have signed seven of their first 10 picks, including Miami of Ohio closer Matthew Long (second round) and Olympia High (Orlando) left-hander Justin Edwards (third).

I would be surprised to see McCulloch go to Great Falls considering Matt Long is going straight to Kannapolis

Ya, the Great Falls thing is odd, considering how the Sox tend to throw there higher picks (especially college guys) into Kanny or Winston Salem.

We all know Kanny could use the help, but maybe they like the rotation they have there (there is some talent in Kanny's rotation, problem is no one is living up to that talent).

According to the official minor-league site, Long was added to Kanny's roster.

From the Cubune:

The Sox are expected to announce the signing of first-round pick Kyle McCulloch this week. McCulloch, a junior pitcher at the University of Texas, is expected to receive a bonus in excess of $1 million.

Looking at his myspace(yeah I know), he has our logo up and really seems to be commited to ball. I wouldnt doubt it if we give him a nice six figure bonus that he skips CSF and goes straight to playing pro ball.

In terms of signing a contract, can you tell us how close you are to potentially joining the Sox. If not, we completely understand.

Signed and sealed yesterday! (June 16th)

Yep, Kanny was on a break (ASB), so Omogrosso should be making his debut any day now.

I'm really excited to see him play, the guy has some major velocity on his FB (been clocked well into the mid 90's, although his velocity has dipped a bit as he was clocked as high as 98 earlier in the year, but was clocked at 95 a week before the draft).

Omogrosso, our 6th rounder, has signed as well according to an interview posted on futuresox.com.
