Nice game all around scoring early and actually scoring a little more later and no nail biter innings where it seems like there would always be runners on base.

What a difference a day makes. It's great to win a come from behind game, but it's really nice to win a game when you lead from start to finish. Except for that one hiccup in the 5th inning, Jose pitched a great game. Ozuna is magic! Somehow he seems to spark this team.

Let's do this again tomorrow! :D:

great game by Jose

really crappy game by Rays: infield single,3-3, still no outs runners at 1st and 2nd, bottom 9th

Oh well all we can do is win our game.

Hey, is this a Sox post game thread or a Tigers game thread! If you want to talk about the Tigers/Tampa game, go to "Talking Baseball".

Pretty sad when we have a great win and half the posts here are about the Tigers.

I just like the idea of being a game closer to first place.

To make up for it...

A great all around effort by the offense.
Nice bunt by Anderson in the 8th.
Pods looks to be turning it around.

Jose Contreras = 2006 Cy Young winner

I can sympathize. But no use worrying about the Tiggers as they beat up the DRays and the Flubs this week. If we take care of our own business, we'll be sitting pretty in the end.

3 quality plate appearances by Anderson tonight

End the Anderson experiment now!

I know it's only 2 games, but maybe, just maybe :praying: he's finally clicking. Maybe getting back to playing everyday (and not just against nasty left handers) has helped. If we can get him on track, that would be a HUGE shot in the arm for our offense and defense.

Brian Anderson was awesome tonight. Starts it off with a hard hit double. Scores a run. Then he draws a walk after being down in the count 1-2 on like 9 pitches. And then puts down a sac bunt that ends up scoring Pods.

Just a great game for him. And even his swing looks much better than before. I think he needs to play every single game and by the Playoffs he'll be good to go.

I was actually going to type "THE Ace" but I wanted to avoid any arguments from those who would take it as a slight to any of our other pitchers.

And Brian had three pretty good plate appearances tonight, it looks like he might be pulling it together. :D:

The Sox have a penchant for playing memorable games on my birthday
(June 12th).In 1993,Ron Karkovice hit a solo home run that edged the
Sox over the Royals 2-1 in extra innings. In 2004,Ozzie got ejected
from his first game as a manger as Carlos Lee extended his hit streak
and the Sox outslugged the Braves, 10-7.Last year,Aaron Rowand's
2 out,2 strike 3 run HR off Trevor Hoffman gave the Sox an 8-5 victory.
This year,Contreras stole the show.Another great performance.
Keep it up,guys.Don't stop now.:moonwalk:

Jose Contreras is a monster who does nothing but eats the rest of MLB up. He was VERY confident out there tonight. I'm glad we have him on OUR side!

When I woke up from my nap, we were already up 5-0! I'm glad AJ was able to knock one out of the park again! He needs to have that feeling more often. The defense and offense helped Jose as well.

I've noticed that, the past couple of games, Brian Anderson's seeing pitches better. I think Ozzie's confidence in him has worked so far. I guess it's a GOOD thing that Ozzie never gave up on the guy. It could prove to be huge for us!

Way to go, Sox!

All we can do is keep taking care of business and we'll make the playoffs. Still pisses me off that the Tigers get another come from behind win though.

Great game by Jose, I had a feeling he was going to pitch well in the Texas heat.
I know their pitcher was leaving a lot of pitches in the zone, but we put on a clinic in that first inning (except for Paulie's baserunning).

More love for "the BRAIN" :anderson:

I like this attitude. The only team that can beat the White Sox is the White Sox.

Contreras - awesome. Anderson bumped his average 15 points since Saturday. Uribe joined him and everyone had a hit besides Joe Crede who is working his way back from his back spasms. Cotts closes it out with a perfect ninth. I like the remaining three pitching matchups and look forward to the White Sox taking three of four from the Rangers before heading to Cincinnati.

Bobby Hebb crank it up:

Sunny, yesterday my life was filled with rain.
Sunny, you smiled at me and really eased the pain.
The dark days are gone, and the bright days are here,
My Sunny one shines so sincere.
Sunny one so true, I love you.

The match-ups might be in our favor; however, the question is: Will Jon or Judy show up? If he gives up another "big inning," I'll cringe!

Judy died in the 2004-2005 offseason.

Jon has been working inside more and more and has been looking better each time he has gone out.

IMO, it is just a matter of time now until Jon regains his early 2005 form. Jon will go something like 10-3 over the next fifteen or so starts if he keeps doing what he has been doing over the last three or so outings.

I hope so! If he didn't get so much run support, his games would've been MUCH uglier than they have appeared.

Jose was on FIRE last nite! Way to hold it down Jose! I'm glad Brian is starting to come out of his funk. It's about time! Let's keep taking care of business. If I were Garland, I would rub JC's head for good luck! Hopefully Garland can get his sinker working tonite! Great game all around! And to top it all off, I had a dream last nite that the Sox won the World Series again! Me when I woke up this morning.....:)

The best thing of all was Anderson being productive. I jokingly made a pipedream statement about the HR he hit being the springboard for him. Maybe it will be???
