View Full Version : Predict the next no-hitter/perfect game

It's been over 2 years since Randy Johnson threw a perfect game against the Braves on May 18, 2004, the last no-hitter/perfect game thrown. So, I ask you the WSI baseball genius, who will throw the next no-hitter/perfect game? You can predict anything else about it you want (date, opposing team, etc.), but I'm just looking for the pitcher. Give your answer and whenever it happens we can see if anyone got it right in this thread and give them a hearty internet pat on the back.

I'll start off. My guess is John Patterson. Keep in mind it's not always the best pitchers who do this. And please no teal responses for Jon Garland.

I'll go with Chris Young. Might be a little hard if he did it at home, but who knows. He's pitched pretty well this year.

Francisco Liriano. He scares me almost as much as Santana.

Freddy Garcia.

I think Javy has it in him. He'll get the Royals this year, book it.

Pedro has never thrown one I think, a no-no would be a good way to top off a great career.

Jon Garland. And note, I'm not using teal.

Seriously, a no-hit ballgame is such a crapshoot. So many things have to go just right (remember Milt Pappas). Garland is just as likely as any other pitcher to have an extremely good, and lucky, night.

Kerry Wood, in a simulated game, on August 11, 2006.

Actually, I think Buehrle is up for a no-no soon.

I'm going with Javy Vazquez as well. He's already toyed with it a couple of times.

Zambrano will eventually get one I think, he's taken 4-5 attempts in the 7th inning I believe.

I gotta go with Santana or Liriano. They both have unhittable stuff and you combine that with the KC Royals... you get a no hitter.

Contreras will throw one today.

Pedro Martinez threw a perfect game against the Padres thorough nine innings but his team failed to score, so in the 10th he gave up his first hit.
