The voluntary dismissal of the lawsuit was predictable from the day it was filed. Bonds can't sit for a deposition -- questioning under oath by the opposing attorneys -- for the same reason he can't talk to Mitchell: his answers could be used as evidence against him. He could take the fifth, but that presents its own set of problems. The suit existed for PR & a vehicle for the filing of the motion for a TRO that the court denied.
