Pablo is so damn clutch. Next time the Bonehead muffs one in the outfield, you forgive him. Hell, next two times.

Amazing game! **** the Toons twice.

Any complaints about our bullpen, please look at exhibit C (for Cleveland).

Victor Martinez player of the game my ass! Take that Fox and all your Tribe loving broadcast today.

Home plate ump blew the call in the bottom of 11, Rob Mackowiak was SAFE at home on the Pablo Ozuna base hit to RF. Victor Martinez did NOT get the tag down on Mackowiak.

Iguchi made it a moot point anyway. We should get credit for another run in the inning, but we'll take the Win and :D:

This ended up being a very nice week against our top rivals. Finish the sweep tomorrow, then go kick Ranger butt.

Lots of heart shown today w/ the rag-tag lineup in Crede's absence. Contributions up and down the order. Burls back on track, Jenks pitching well. Montero gets first win. It's all good!

I am glad the Sox won. It would have been a shame to lose a game that WAS over when Rob's foot touched home before he was tagged. As my Mom would say "cheaters' proof!"
You can't miss that play when you are getting paid to be an umpire. If this is how you make a ****ing living, you damn well better be able to make correct calls.

mack was running as slow as molasses in january around 3rd on a soft liner to right. the ball beat him to the plate by a couple steps but he was under the tag. called out anyway.

Homey is upsetting when the Sox are losing. He rubs it in. However, he is hilarious after the Sox win. He can watch the Sox win 11-0, and his only comment will be "I don't like the pitching matchup tomorrow. At least we won this game so we can't lose the series." He is a characature of himself. Every day he outdoes himself.

How many victories against the opponents bullpen does that make this year? It seems like they stuggle against the starter, and then capitalize against the bullpen.

It was extremely close. First replay made it look like he was safe, but after seeign a couple more angles, I think the umpire got it right. But it really could have gone either way.

We seem to be turning the corner with regard to the quality of our play. The pitching, particularly out of the pen, has been getting better and it's good to see some clutch hitting and successful bunts being put down. It's always nice going into the third game of a series knowing that you already have the series in your back pocket. Even so, I'd really like to get the sweep!:gulp:

I didn't see the broadcast, of course  , but based on past experience, I seriously doubt it's just you. The goofy thing is, these clowns probably couldn't care less about the Indians either; they are just scared that the Sox might actually do the unthinkable and repeat, instead of one of their darlings (read: Yankees, Red Sox) winning. And has anyone noticed that our last four wins have been by one run--Detroit 4-3, 4-3 and Cleveland 5-4, 4-3? Guess we still know how to win the close ones, although I would much rather that we blow everybody out by at least five runs for the rest of the year--and by at least seven runs through the playoffs.

We're doing the little things right again. Pitching, defense, and the big hits. Enough of the long ball, lets win the game the right way...I'm glad to see they're starting to play like last year, again. The power is great, but power slumps, and we need more than power to win games.

I got a question. If a reliever doesn't have crap in the pen does the bullpen coach call over to the manager and let him know? I would assume so but I have never heard that talked about.

And tomorrow's ESPN. Yikes!

It shouldn't be surprising, considering that the announcer doing the color for the game was Rick Manning, a one-time Indians centerfielder whose job these days is doing local broadcasts of Indians games.

This was probably someone with Fox thinking that this balances out the broadcast from a few weeks ago where DJ was a part of the crew.

Also, considering that Fox viewed the Yankees-Athletics game as the main game for national consumption, Manning's presence means we got a backup crew for this game.

But most important, we should relax. What difference do the comments during the game really matter as long as the Sox won?

Great game. It reminded me of a game last year around this time when Buehrle faced Captain Cheeseburger and Iguchi hit a game tying HR in the 7th, only to have the Sox lost in the 12th. I was at that game. Fortunately, this time the Sox won.

The cheeses_h_rice good luck horseshoe continues unabated...I'm now 5-0 this year seeing the Sox in person.

Helluva pitching performance by both Burly and C.C., except for Burly's first inning, where he escaped some major damage. The Sox's bullpen did fine outside of one mistake by Thornton...Jenks in particular is impressing the absolute hell out of me this year. And what can you say about the clutch tendencies our hitters have in tight situations? That bottom of the 11th was just a clinic -- nobody trying to hit a 5-run bomb, just lining singles and getting on base. I thought Mackowiak was safe at the plate, too, but Gooch made that a moot point off the Fat Man.

The game could have been won by the Sox so many times today, that it really was one of those "60 you should win" games.

Sounds like not having Hawk's STRETCH! call of Thome's 9th inning blast cost us a win in regulation!

Hawk calls "Stretch!" on anything hit within three feet of the warning track.

I for one enjoyed today's telecast. It's nice to hear the announcers actually announce the game instead of talking about Carl Yestrzemski.

I also didn't miss hearing the words "rhythm", "click", or the phrases, "everything is self induced", "you're not gonna cover his fastball and curve", "you can't cover both sides of the plate", "when CC is pitching like this you don't have a chance no matter who you are", blah blah blah...

When the Sox were behind today, I was still relatively calm and confident they could turn it around. When Hawk is announcing, every pitcher on the opposing team is either Cy Young or pitching like him that particular day.

Listening to Hawk when everything is going well is a blast. But listening to Hawk during a game the Sox are struggling is depressing and irritating. He's either whining about a blown call or an error for the rest of the game, or he's making excuses.

I enjoy when the games are on Fox and D.J. is doing the color.

Congrats to the boys!

And a warning: Salerno's in Gilbert offers two types of crust--thin and what they call "thick." I didn't order the "thick" because I thought it meant "thick," you know, meaning breadlike. It's actually--according to my spies--what the Salerno's in Berwyn calls "original." And it was quite good; Mr.MarySwiss got the sausage, and it was loaded with cheese and sausage. Plus the sausage tasted like good ol'Chicago-style sausage, sweet and buttery flavor, with lots of fennel. I'm going to try the thin, but the "thick" was just fine.

I didn't think the announcing was partial to one side or the other today. Although I was flipping back and forth between the Sox game and the Argentina Ivory Coast game. After IC scored in the 82 to cut the lead to 2-1, the announcer said the game has just turned 360. So, basically it was still in the same place it was before.

Just got back! Such an awesome game! Had a heart attack when Thome's almost homer didn't make it, instead falling into stupid Sizemore's glove. Sorry, I've got a thing against him.

I was in Sec. 514, Row 16, and the seating was actually quite pleasant, but if the wind hadn't been blowing I wouldn't have come out of the game with serious windburn. LOL.

Didn't know that Crede was not playing, he mostly snuck in and out at times in the dugout during the game.

But, that 11th inning, wow! I seriously thought that we weren't going to be able to come back, but we did! Hopefully I'll get to go to more games this season before August comes!

A few things about the game today:

1) It was freezing in the top row of the upper deck

2) I was sitting next to two really annoying Indians fans. The girl decided to scream at the top of her lungs (since we were in the top row of the UD) whenever the Tribe did anything remotely good. It sounded like she was being murdered up there. My ears hurt.

3) Chris Singleton made a nice catch in the booth

4) I love how Thome celebrates like a little kid on those big runs. Him and Pablo were going nuts.

I was at the game today and had an amazing time. Unfortunately a friend had a cubs hat on (I know hes an idiot) and some guys were harassing him thru the whole game. Finally at the end of the game when the Sox won the guy behind us pokes my friend in the face and a fight ensues.....Luckily my joy was only momentarily disrupted when I almost fell out of my row because I was getting pushed around. I spoke to some other friends and they saw a couple other fights. Why people?

Heard Farmer's call of that in the car...that was an enjoyable moment.

Didn't see any of the game, but Farmio basically called out V. Martinez on acting like an idiot after hitting that 2nd dinger (double high fives at the plate, pointing up to people in the stands, watching the homer go out, dance party in the dugout). Farmer said that wouldn't have happened back in the day. Drysdale or Carlton would have put VMartinez on his behind after he did that on the first homer.

Are the 2005 White Sox finally back?

Four one run games since Tuesday, three come from behind wins in the same span after trailing in the 7th inning or later.

The entire rest of the season they only had two of those.

So the scoreboard now looks a lot better, five come from behind 7th inning or later wins vs. eight games where they blew the game when leading in the 7th inning or later.

Overall I've seen a lot worse.

Go get em' tomorrow.

True (McCarver saying "I don't think that taste is there" just as Lidge served up the unforgettable gopher ball is PRICELESS and CLASSIC!!!), but watch the bottom of the 9th inning during Uribe's at-bat and even into the first couple of pitches of Pods' at-bat... you'll see numerous closeup shots of Vizcaino (including a shot where he ran onto the field without his cap to start the inning) and Buck and McCarver's continual gushing about how Vizcaino was "the right choice" to face Bobby Jenks for his "heroic" at-bat.

What did Farmio say?? Singleton really lived it up. Doing a little celebration then throwing the ball down to the crowd. There was a ball earlier in the game that went into the booth next to them (Cleveland's radio I guess) and Chris was yelling over there to give him the ball.

He said Singleton made a great play. Chris said that's the first foul ball he's ever caught, including all the games he went to in Oakland as a kid. Farmer replied with:

"You caught a foulball as a player though"

Farmer asked him if it stung. Chris said his wrists hurt, and his bracelet had snapped off. Farmer spent the rest of the game making fun of Chris Rogney and his net.

In real time, in the angle most similar to what the ump saw, he looked out. Which is why it's understandable the ump made the call he did. With the slo-mo, he looks safe. It's obscured a bit by dirt and Martinez' leg blocking much of the plate.

In slo-mo he looks safe..it looks like Mack slid across home plate as soon as Martinez puts the tag on him. In real time motion though, he looks out. I saw the highlight on Sportscenter in real time a few minutes ago, and he definitely looked out. That's a very close call at the plate. Luckily Iguchi came through and we didn't have to worry about that call.

Just for the heck of it, what was the Old Windmill's record for today, 2 for 3 on sending? Or was it higher than that? I was watching the game in between cleaning, and I only saw 3 plays that could or could not have been questionable at the plate. However, Even if he is nothing more than a windmill, and he sends everything, I L-O-V-E his agressiveness, balls to the wall attitude when we need it the most.

Maybe we should start calling Cora, Don Quixote? Although in retrospect, he really doesn't seem to be fighting against the windmill now, does he? Still seems to fit him though, in the subversive nature, anyhow.

Ozzie had this quote in the Trib today talking about Cora's aggressiveness. He was talking about how you gotta realize how many things actually have to work out in order for the runner to be out at home (fielder fields it cleanly, gets it out of his glove quickly, a good throw to the plate, catcher catches the ball), and in the end the aggressiveness does pay off. Hats off to "Old Windmill"

I know... I just loved the opening it gave me because it was exactly what I was thinking when I opened this thread... "Um they won? What do you mean they won... I am positive you are wrong... they lost damn you... lost lost lost..."

Not really, but you might not know it around here since the Sox aren't currently 20 games up on the majors with a WC birth already sewn up...

I got sunshine. On a cloudy day...
When it's COLD outside. I got the month of May...:)

A little inner sunshine for all my friends...:gulp:

Are the 2005 White Sox finally back?

Four one run games since Tuesday, three come from behind wins in the same span after trailing in the 7th inning or later.

The entire rest of the season they only had two of those.

So the scoreboard now looks a lot better, five come from behind 7th inning or later wins vs. eight games where they blew the game when leading in the 7th inning or later.

Overall I've seen a lot worse.

Go get em' tomorrow.

Lip

I've gotten that 05 feeling the last two games.

Montero pulled a "Politte" with his win yesterday. What did he throw, 5,6 pitches? Thats how Cliff got all those wins last year, held the other team in a tie game, then in the next inning or two Sox get a few runs end of ball game Cliff gets the win. All in all, great win. Maybe the best this year so far.
