Watching Baseball Tonight last night Harold Renolds brought out the idea of putting Cintron in centerfield.

Has anyone ever seen him play there? Heck, we already have a infielder platooning out there now- maybe Cintron has more outfield skill than Rob. What do you guys think?

I thought we were trading for Rowand?!

Seriously... I am not sure he's a everyday player yet. Rob is becoming one.

Neither Cintron nor Mack is an everyday player; otherwise, they would be doing it somewhere. As for Cintron is CF, I think it would be foolish to treat all players as defensively interchangeable as long as they're hitting. I don't know if Cintron has ever played an inning out there.

see! I told you guys rob wouldnt do so bad in center. he should stay in the line up and stay in center for now. i still wouldnt mind seeing scott atleast try center for a game. i mean why not? everyone else is switching around. he has experience.

You can get by with playing an infielder in one of the corner outfield spots every now and then, but I refuse to believe that you can put a non-outfielder in centerfield and expect it to be anything but an unmitigated disaster.

Umm, if memory serves me correctly, Cintron was the starting shortstop for Arizona last year. Mackowiak is nothing more and will never be anything more than a bench player. Neither of these guys are an option as the everyday starting center fielder.

Why don't you go and play Pablo Ozuna in CF while you're at it!!!

Cintron's an infielder. I'd be scared to have him out there in the outfield. Mako is the only guy I can think of who can play out there (and he's even mediocre).

I thought Ozuna was taking Politte's job in the bullpen?

Can Paulie play CF? That would enable Thome to go to 1b and the Sox to make a trade for Griffey to DH!

The solution is simple: trade for Carl Everett!

Knowing Kenny Williams, this should probably be a non teal post...

Maybe we can trade for Jose Valentin and move him into CF like we did back in 2001.

Cintron would start on a lot of teams, and perhaps he will for us soon if Uribe doesn't get his act together.

He was basically an everyday player for the D-backs.

It worked out well for Robin Yount, but I'd keep Cintron at shortstop.

Rob Mackowiak
2004-155 games played, 491 at bats
2005-142 games played, 463 at bats
well over 100 career games in center
No, Rob sure hasn't ever been an every day player.

He was also a .279 career hitter as the starting shortstop for Arizona. Perhaps Uribe could be traded for a centerfielder. We are carrying three shortstops so that is the obvious position to trade.

"But where would he...Oh, DH?"

I like watching Griffey play baseball. I have no doubt that his name will start coming up again around mid-July if we can't get things worked out in CF.

Yes, but still less regular than Rob, and with not one single game ever played at CF, the choice is obvious.

Get Alomar out of retirement and slide Gooch into CF!

When did Mackowiak do this remarkable job in center? I was at the game last night, and when Montero gave up that deep fly in the 8th...Mackowiak got a terrible jump on the ball. Then had to sprint to it, and did his little dance out around the ball before finally catching it. Blegh...if that ball wasn't hit so high in the air, there was no way Mackowiak was going to get to it.

I can't wait for the lineup of Pablo in left, Cintron in center, and Mackowiak in right. Thanks, but no thanks...Cintron is a backup infielder, keep him in that role.

While you are at it -- how about Sandy Alomar? And I don't mean his brother.

Not if the Reds stay competitive, which they should because Pujols won't be at 100% for a while.

Why not? He's got no arm and a suspect glove.

I second this idea. Dye can move to 1B like last season, and we can trade Konerko to Tampa Bay for Carl Crawford, our new SS.

Hey, if you're so fast you can just run to where the ball's gonna be, well, that can cover up the glove problems a little.
