Good point... however as you know, in the end, the team that makes the post season has the best record against everyone, good and bad teams.

Pretty interesting numbers, only 3 teams have winning records against "the big eight". What criteria did you use to pick "the big eight"? I mean Texas has a better record than Cleveland and Oakland.

It was the eight teams over .500.

The ALED is: Red Sox, Yankee$ and Blue (Black) Jays

The ALCD is: White Sox, Tigers and Indians

The ALWD is: Texas and Oakland.

Non-contenders: Baltimore, Twins, Angels

Zero Contenders: Devil Rays, Royals and Mariners.

Did all these teams start using apostrophes? I didn't get the memo.

Interesting that the Sox have the best record against the elite teams but are 10-7 against the zero contenders (KC, Seattle, Tampa).

The Tigers are 12-0 vs. the zero contenders.

It appears that we're going to have to do a better job against the weak teams and Detroit is going to have to start losing some of these games. Chances should be pretty good that at least one of these changes occurs. And, if the Sox can play up to their potential, both changes should occur since Detroit will not go undefeated against the zero contenders.

I'm tired of the Sox being in second place but you have to think, over the long haul, we should win the division.

I think both will occur. There's no way Detroit goes undefeated against the bad teams. They may be bad, but we going undefeated is quite the feat against any team. The 2005 Sox didn't lose to the Royals until the end of July, but they lost to them.

The Sox will win this division.

Looks like they are beating up on each other and taking out their frustration on the Royals.....

The Baseball Savant was raving about the Tigers crushing the Indians who are supposed to win 90 games based on their RS and RA but the Tigers are 1-5 against us.

Hopefully we can beat up on the 'Stros, Pirates, and Flubs (very least go 2/3 against each) lest we be reminded of '02-'04 when the Sox couldn't buy a win against the lower echelon teams.

I'd actually expect 2 outta 3 against all five opponents.

With a sweep in Pittsburgh and at Wrigley. I think they can go 12-3, 11-4 in that stretch.

12-3 or 11-4 would be great. These are not strong teams the Sox are up against and I hope the Sox can throw strong pitching and good defense/hitting at all of them.

That is the American use of the apostrophe as a method of alerting the reader that an "s" is coming.

If the Sox can play better against the crap teams (which I think they will), they will take this division without a problem.

Wow...they are down right dominant against the leagues best.

Now just take care of business against the crappy teams...
