I would take Jose Contreras. He's been the best pitcher in the last year and has proven, without a doubt, that he can pitch in big games (though this would be bigger game for me than for him) I would only hope that he can finish the game, so the Sox bullpen doesn't get me killed.

I voted for JC too, but if you can't stand the suspense, take MB. :D:

Jose lost the only game of the play-offs last year. He sucks.

For me it was between Pedro and Johan, but I went with Pedro because of his experience.

Navarro.

For the other team.

Pedro Martinez. Not a slight against the White Sox pitchers / Santana but rather an instinct to survive.

Pedro is the best active pitcher I would select for a game with my life on the line.

Looks like three people aren't too happy with their lives right now, they're voting for Jamie Navarro.

It is up to five and the suicide note is getting ready. :redneck

Seriously, I would not take Navarro if my life depended on it. I would anyone from our bullpen right now.

Only game our offense decided to take a night off.

Hmm, I dunno, I picked Chris Carpenter.

EDIT: That was dumb. Either JC or Halladay, if we're assuming everyone is healthy.

The correct answer is...

Pedro Martinez. I'm sorry for those of you who got the question wrong.

But I guess Johan isn't a bad runner up. How did Jason Schmidt get on this poll? No love for Jake Peavy? Or if we are speaking about right now, Brandon Webb?

But yeah, I'll take Pedro and live over the rest of you. And if nothing else, he's my favorite pitcher to watch so at least I will be entertained if he gets shelled.

The best pitcher of our generation? Perhaps, but I don't want on a headcase on the mound if I had to choose one game.

Yea, that's not the guy you want on the mound....it's the guy you NEED on the mound.

I selected Pedro but he is not superior to Clemens when you compare the two - its not even close. Pedro will be lucky to pitch until 2010 which will make him 39 at retirement and will put him well below Clemens for all comparable measures. Pedro, however may be better at this particular moment due to the age difference and Clemens layoff - we shall see in a few weeks.

Non active pitcher my choice would be Tom Seaver

Active would have to go to Roger Clemens

I thought about Clemens; then I remembered how he pitched in game 1 of the World Series. I should have left Oswalt off, though, because of how he pitched in game 3.

If we are talking about all-time, I would have to take either Bob Gibson or biggest of the big game pitchers: Whitey Ford.

Bob Gibson.

Absolutely! Not only would our lives be saved, but our enemy would likely be killed.

But in the absence of the Bob Gibson option, Vote For Pedro.
