I understand why they bring in BA in Center in the later innings, but why do they take pods out and move Rob Mac over? It doesn't make sense.

It doesn't make sense. It seems like they take out whichever of the two had the most recent AB to hide Anderson in the order as much as possible. It so happens that most of the time it has been Pods lately when this switch has occurred.

It makes perfect sense. Mac is a better defender than Pods. By far.

Because the girls on my 16" softball team have a better arm than Podsednik.

I'm for anything that can help keep Pods' legs fresh. I can't believe how much better he has gotten with working counts and taking walks.

They did it again last night. Is there a real conscensus that Mac is better in Left than Pods?

I know fielding pct. is not the end-all be-all, but I think Pods' is .949. Which is pretty good, if it's 1885 and your glove is essentially just a leather pot-holder.

Mackowiak is indeed the better defender.

I don't care if you say Rob's the better defender, but Pods has more than held his own in left field the last 2 years.

Ok, so he's got a noodle for an arm, but he makes the plays. Having 2 cannons in CF and RF helps though.

Pods is a below average defensive outfielder. As long as it isn't Ozuna replacing him I have no problem with a defensive switch late in the game.
