Here's my prediction for each divison:

AL East-

1.Yankees-They've added so much
2.Red Sox-Still behind the Yankees
3.Blue Jays-Lost too much to be competitive
4.Orioles-Chris will be their Team MVP
5.Devil Rays-they go rid of Caruso

AL Central-

1.White Sox-It might only take 85 games to win it
2.Twins-Our only competition
3.Tigers-Return of Melusky, addition of Young
4.Indians-Yes they've fallen this far
5.Royals-They're horrible

AL West-

1.Mariners-Maybe they'll only win 105 games
2.Rangers-Awesome offense, Park is a good pitcher
3.Athletics-Good pitching, but offense is hurting
4.Angels-toughest division in MLB

Wildcard-Rangers

NL East-

1.Marlins-My surprise pick, great pitching
2.Mets-They added a lot this winter
3.Braves-Castilla isn't that good, rotation is old
4.Phillies-Terry Adams won't help that much
5.Expos-Tim Raines will be their team MVP

NL Central

1.Cardinals-Good pitching, solid offense, ANKIEL!
2.Astros-Young pitchers that rival us
3.Cubs-.500 team no better
4.Reds-don't discount a healthy Griffey
5.Brewers-Matt Stairs replacing Burnitz?
6.Pirates-Bell/Young waste 1,000 AB's a year

NL West

1.Diamondbacks-defending Champs
2.Padres-they remind me of us in 2000
3.Giants-need another starter
4.Rockies-Still a great offense
5.Dodgers-LaDuca isn't THAT good, loss of Sheffield, Karros is horrible.

Wildcard-Padres-One of my two Cinderella teams.

World Series-Sox vs. Cardinals: Sox in 6

I will be surprised if the Mariners win more than 90 games.

No prediction contests this year. We tried that last year and the sox started flat. Lets just let it happen.

I thought that it was decided that my fishing trips early in the season were the reason for the Sox slow start.

But then again what the hell do I know? ©

It was a combination of things. Your fishing trips and the prediction contest being a couple of them. This year we must all watch the games by candle light, and before the first pitch of every game we must summon the baseball gods using our Ouija boards.

What baseball gods?
I had the hunting gods kill them last year after the horrible start the Sox got off to.

Faith JM,gotta have Faith.

I'm jumping on the "Sox all the way in '02" bandwagon early. I'm definitely a supporter.

My other picks -

The Rangers will finish last in the AL West.
Arizona will not make the playoffs.
Neither will the Mets.

My picks -

AL East - New York
AL Central - Chicago
AL West - Oakland
Wild Card - Anaheim (my surprise pick)

NL East - Atlanta
NL Central - Houston
NL West - San Francisco
Wild Card - Philadelphia

I won't make any postseason predictions, other than my unwavering faith in the White Sox.

I hope you have the Sox as the #1 seed so I can see a Angels/Sox playoff game. That would be sweet!

I got goosebumps when I read Bill Simmons' ESPN report of being a lifelong Pats fan at the Super Bowl yesterday -

First talking about rooting for a team that never quite makes it -

Of course, there's one catch: You might never get there. Every fan's worst fear. All that energy over the years just getting displaced, no release, no satisfaction, nothing. Season after season, no championship ... and then you die. I mean, isn't that what this is all about? Isn't that the nagging fear? That those little moral victories over the years won't make up for that big payoff at the end -- that one moment when everything comes together, when your team keeps winning, when you keep getting the breaks and you just can't lose.

Then, his feeling when the Pats won it -

(I don't think I've ever felt that way before. I mean, have you ever felt totally dumbfounded by something? Have you ever felt totally overwhelmed? I'm telling you, keep the faith, keep believing, keep supporting your team -- there's a slight chance that it might be worth it some day. Just trust me.)

He summed up the whole thing for me perfectly. He was talking about a different team in a different city in a different sport, but he might as well have been talking to us.

Yeah i know that feeling well pulling for the dolphins, and we always have a shot we can just never take those last 2 steps.

As for the sox, i see us doing no better than the ALCS. We are banking our season on players coming off of surgery and being 100%, i dont see it working, Second place in the division. Possible WC.

My picks...

AL
East - Yankees, they just added too much to go with anyone else.
Central - White Sox (duh), No competition.
West - A's, Loss of Giambi won't hurt as much as people think, Pena & continued improvement from guys like Chavez and Tejada will make up most of the difference.
W.C. - Mariners, James Baldwin?

NL
East - Braves, getting Sheff sealed it.
Central - Astros, Oswalt, Redding, Miller and Hernandez and that offense too, wow.
West - Padres, this team is damn good and like the Sox, Marlins and Astros they have arms up the yin yang.
W.C. - Marlins, the Mets are gonna be the dissapointment of the year as they stay mediocre and the Marlins do what people expect from the other team in NYC. What about Philly you say? Maybe if Larry Bowa and Scott Rolen don't kill eachother.

2002 picks:

AL EAST - NY
Boston improved, but not THAT much

AL CENTRAL - CHI
Indians came back down to the pack willingly

AL WEST - OAK
Young arms are the difference over TX, even without the Ox

AL WILD CARD - BOS

NL EAST - NY
Braves' pitchers finally get old, Mets win the "softball division" ( all offense, last at-bat wins )

NL CENTRAL - STL
Cubs may make this close, Houston will decline a bit, I think

NL WEST - SF
Tight race with Arizona - Wells could have made the difference ( HA! )

NL WILD CARD - ATL
Their staff is old, but not THAT old

WORLD SERIES
St. Louis over Boston
( or the safe bet - " Yankmees win! Thuuuuuuuuh Yankmees win!!" )
