Time to put a nice streak up the rest of this homestand.

Politte made us nervous but the offense and rest of the staff came to play.

Nice plays by Iguchi and Dye in the late innings.

The Sox are benefitting from the fact, that the ONE guy in the pen who has a pair, is the closer. Great job Bobby. Ozzie needs to start fining guys for walking batters.

DE-FENSE!!!!!

That is what won it tonight. I knew afetr the long delay for Javier to get back on the mounf there would be problems.

Though I wasnt looking when Iguchi made the play and I heard DJ yell "Get Up!!" I was like ***? Then saw the catch....Nice!!!!

Cotts was decent tonight. Thornton also got a big popup. Besides the homer he allowed to Belliard a few nights ago, Thornton has been stepping up lately. Politte on the other hand just isn't there right now.

Big win tonight, we definitely needed this one. Let's take 2 out of 3 from them tomorrow.

Javy...wow, this guy gets 9 runs a game run support.

I would have liked to have seen the offense pile on. We didn't do anything against the Texas bullpen. It felt like we were just sitting on that lead. But beggars can't be choosers right now. We needed a win, and we got one.

Everyone off the ledge now?

I am not sure I was on the ledge, but I see after a seven run inning the game should have been out of reach even for those pesky Rangers.

Alas, the game was not out of reach as the Rangers proved. If this team desires to go deep into the playoffs, or even make the playoffs, they'll need to find some consistency.

Not the prettiest game, but

Serious leather by Dye and Gooch in the 8th! Maybe this will spark the momentum the Sox need to win this series and slap the Tiggers next week!

You beat me to it. Great fourth inning. Those must've been the runs we we've been lacking since Tuesday.

Bobby's getting really tough mentally. Very promising sign. When he got squeezed on the 3-1 pitch to walk Botts, he could have gotten pissed, but it seemed like he chanelled the anger into the first pitch he threw Barajas. I liked to see it.

I went manic-depressive with Iggy tonight.

The good:

That great leaping catch.

Going to 2nd on on SF, was one of the best hook slides I've ever seen.

The bad:

He missed the throw from Pods earlier in the game, that should have been an out. I forget who the Rangers was.

Also when Iggy went 2nd on that SF, what the hell was he thinking. He was out by a mile, only a great slide prevented him from being out.

A bit of a nail-biter at times but a win is a win. Always nice to end the evening with a fireworks show.

More frustrations with the some of the goofballs working the counters in the Upper Deck. Unreal. It took me three minutes to get two beers early in the game and later on it took four minutes to get a beer and a slice of pizza...and I didn't stand in line either time. My friend went to get some hot chocolate toward the end and she said 6 people were standing around while only one was working. A huge line was forming and some supervisor must have came out because everyone quickly jumped to the registers.

I decided to skip the pdimas tailgate in an effort to keep my liver happy. Besides, I need to leave the house in 11 hours anyway for tomorrow's game.

Sig update time...

Too bad I had to work tonight and miss the game. It may have been not the prettiest game in the world, but I'll take the win. Let's take the rubber match Sunday, boys and girls.

Great game to be at tonight, fireworks and all...

Good to see the offense get it together in the 4th.

No concerns for Javy though, I knew he was going to have a little trouble after his 30-min delay.

Good defense by Gooch and Dye in the late innings to save some runs.

Politte....

Let's get 'em tomorrow boys and take the series!

No, he really didn't. I honestly do not want to see him in a game unless we're up by 5+ runs...and that would still make me nervous. Please Ozzie, no more Cliff.

Jermaine Dye and Tadahito Iguchi proved today that it is pitching AND DEFENSE that wins games.

Also, excellent to see the Sox put together a string of base hits and scoring a boat load without going deep. Home runs are sweet, but they are harder to hit than a base hit.

Vazquez's ERA took a hit because the Rangers pitchers took about 5 minutes between pitches in that fourth inning. Just hurry up and throw the damn ball, you're letting our pitcher cool off.

Hopefully we can string a bunch of these Ws together. Would be nice to keep it going into the Detroit series.

I didn't get to see the entire game, because I spent much more time today with family than I had ever thought I would; but, it was a blast, so woo hoo to that.

But, the 4th inning today is what this offense should be about. Reading about it, it looks like they had small ball and bash ball in the same inning...Way to go Sox! Now, let's get a winning streak going!

I know that Texas stiff (Padilla) took eons between pitches but a long interlude between innings is no reason to expect Vazquez or any major league pitcher to get sloppy.

If anything, once staked to an insurmountable lead (or what should be enough runs at this level to ensure victory) Vazquez should have concentrated on the hitters.

The White Sox staff and pen have to get mentally tougher; it's as simple as that.

Nice contribution by Gload; beautiful sacrifice. Fundamentals, Ozzie please start Gload again today.

Nice contribution by Gload; beautiful sacrifice. Fundamentals, Ozzie please start Gload again today. It's not a matter of getting sloppy. Pitchers tighten up sitting on the bench for half an hour. Even though they have equipment for keeping their muscles loose, it's hard to maintain the control in throwing the ball. Vazquez had some control trouble when he came back out and wound up catching way too much of the plate to avoid walking guys. He settled down after a few batters.

Gary Matthews Jr. He should have been out by a mile. JV pitched around it though.

The 4th inning was sweet. Nice to score 7 runs without any HRs. But I told my girlfriend that I bet JV would give up some runs the next inning... which he did. That was disappointing. And the bullpen barely hung on (Jenks was great though). Not the most encouraging win. Oh well.

Great to get a win and end the streak, hopefully we can take the series today!
