View Full Version : The "Go Red Sox" thread

With the Yankee thread obsolete, it's now time to pull for the Red Sox. Here's hoping that Papi, Manny, Youks, Tek, and co. can bring out the big sticks against the Tigers, and that, either the Tigers are being blown out, or Papelbon gets some saves out of this series.

And, let's sweep Texas to make it meaningful!

Yes, Go Red S...ssss...sauu...
I can't do it.
I just hope the Tiggers lose. I don't care who beats them.

Are we going to have one of these for every Tigers series? It's ****ing June 1st! Who cares where they are in the standings. Like I've said, check back with me in August and tell me where the Tigers are in the standings. If they're anywhere close, then I'll consider them a real threat. Until then, they're nothing more than a team that has gotten off to a hot start.

I hope the Tiger lose too, but right now I am more worried about Cleveland. I think they are the better team and it will be us and them in the end. But I still hope Detropit loses every game they play.

Cleveland and Detroit will be healthy competition, but I still don't think that Cleveland played particularly well against us. I'll grant that they played better than we did (which is all that matters), but they don't strike me as on the verge of going on a run. They still have pitching and defensive problems. That said, they are still a very good team, but I don't see them doing quite what they did in the second half last year with their current rotation (Byrd and Johnson) and bullpen (no Howry or Rhodes).

Shelton has cooled off from his opening week pace of 97 Home Runs, 314 RBIs. Maroth is gone, Rogers is cooling, and Verlander got hit hard last night.

A month from now we'll wonder what all the fuss was about while we tear our hair out over the shrinking lead we have over those damn Toons.

Just like the 2005 White Sox, right? They just got off to a hot start. They fizzled away, right?

Strange days are indeed afoot here, boys and girls. So far this year, I have found myself:

-Concerned over the outcome of a May series between the Royals & Tigers

-Rooting for both the Twins, and the Indians within a 2 week span

-Rooting for the YANKEES tosweep a 4 game series

and, starting tonight, I will be

-Rooting for the Red Sox to sweep a series

and, the strangest of all, in a couple of weeks, I will be

-rooting for the.....the.....Cu....C...Cu......(sigh)...(deep breath)....I'll be rooting for the CUBS ! (over the Tigers). There. I've said it. :puking:

Well, not quite.

At this time last year, we only had 22 games to whip on the weak teams in this division. You guys, on the other hand, have had 30 but only played us 3 times (and we all know that outcome).

Also, seeing some interesting stuff regarding the Tigers vs .500+ teams so far this year; if I have some time I'll try to put it together before I leave work.

Short version: The Sox '05 hot start and the Tigers '06 hot start aren't comparable. Jjav is dead on; nothing to lend itself to this streak being sustainable.

3-2 Tigers lose to BOSOX...well, we definitely got a break after last night

Jones has looked VERY shaky this week, his ERA is in the mid 5īs now

He keeps this up, and I think Jones is out of the closer role.

I think the Giambi homer really shook him up...

Unfortunately, Zumaya and Rodney can get the job done as well. Zumaya would be even more famous this season, if not for Ray and Papelbon. He is definitely this year´s version of Jenks.
