The AL vote leaders came out today, and as we can see, it is horrible
4 Yankees and 4 red cubs. So who do you have starting for the AL. and lets be as unbiased as possible

1B Mark Teixeria

2B Iguchi (not kidding, that's the worst position, player wise in the league)

SS Miguel Tejada

3B Eric Chavez

OF(3) Vladimir Guerrero, Ichiro, Johnny Damon (also not a strong position

C Jorge Posada

Damon??? Posada? And you are complaining about RedCubs and Yankees??? Ugh.

Almost all of the positions you picked (except for maybe 2 of em), The Sox player of that position is having a better season.

i guess i made it confusing.
2nd base is the worst position in the AL. Iguchi is the best option, because everyone else is not good

Off the top of my head, while trying to factor in the "every team represented" requirement:

1B: Giambi, Konerko
2B: Iguchi, Loretta
3B: ARod, Chavez
SS: Tejada, Young
C: IRod, Mauer
DH: Thome, Ortiz
OF: Wells, Dye, Vlady, Swisher, Gomes, Maggs, Ichiro

SP: Contreras, Schilling, Kazmir, Santana, Garcia, Zito
RP: Rivera, Papelbon, Jenks, Street

For the life of me, I can't think of a Royal who doesn't just absolutely suck.

I say Jose Lopez from Seattle for 2B. 8 hrs 40 RBIs batting 280. He has 5 errors but thats just 1 more than Tadahito.

weak suace

1B Pauk Konerko(.297, 15 41) > Mark Teixeria(.289 6 26)
as it stands now 1.)David Ortiz(.267 14, 47) and 2.) Jason Giambi(.259 13 39) are ahead of Paul in the votes let it also be known that they have Ortiz as a 1B candiate, if thats the case Jim Thome (.295 20 49) should be the starting 1B for the AL.

2B Mark Loretta (.317 1 25 2) > Tadahito Iguchi (.290 6 24 4), Iguchi is third in the voteing behind both Loretta and Robinson Cano(.299 2 19).

SS Miguel Tejada(.322 14 39 1) > Derek Jeter(.338 5 38 9)

3B Alex Rodriguez(.293 13 42 4)

OF(3) Nick Swisher(.310 16 42 1) , Vernon Wells(.325 15 43 4), Vladimir Guerrero (.325 13 45 4)

The Royal even really qualified would probably be Grudzilanek (sp). Batting over 300 and no errors. Best I could find.

Isn't Hafner a DH like Thome?

Isn't Hafner a DH like Thome?

He can play 1B if necessary in an NL park. It's looking more and more likely that either Thome or Konerko will be sitting at home instead of playing. One of them will be going for sure, but both of them deserve to be there more than Ortiz. It looks like I won't be watching this season's AS Game, either.

C: Ramon Hernandez, Joe Mauer
1B: Paul Konerko, Jason Giambi
2B: Mark Loretta, Jose Lopez
3B: Troy Glaus, Alex Rodriguez
SS: Derek Jeter, Miguel Tejada (Young is great, but Jeter's having a great year.)
OF: Ichiro, Vernon Wells, Vladimir Guererro, Alex Rios, Nick Swisher, Herkneeya

SP: Scott Kazmir, Justin Verlander, Curt Schilling (ick), Jose Contreras, Ry Halladay, Mark Buehrle
RP: Jonathan Papelbon, BJ Ryan, Mariano Rivera, K-Rod

This is who I think should make it. I think I'm missing Cleveland, KC, and Texas in terms of team representation.

Giambi? He's batting .259. Thome, Hafner and Ortiz all deserve it more than him (and Hafner would solve your Cle problem)

These aren't just the starters, so I'm including every team. Sure, the thread starter said "starters", but screw that. Starters in bold:

SP- Jose Contreras, C.C. Sabathia, Scott Kazmir, Roy Halladay, Johan Santana
RP - B.J. Ryan, Chris Ray, Mariano Rivera (ugh), Bobby Jenks, Jon Papelbon (UGH)
C- Joe Mauer
1B- Jim Thome / Paul Konerko / Travis Hafner
2B- Tadahito Iguichi
3B- Alex Rodriguez / Esteban German
SS- Derek Jeter / Miguel Tejada / Michael Young
LF- Vladimir Guerrero
CF- Vernon Wells
RF- Ichiro Suzuki / Nick Swisher / Magglio Ordonez

Try to keep it to a 25-man roster or less.

Well, those guys are all DHs, and while deserving, they may not get a chance due to the game being in a NL park. I was just going by position. Of the three you listed, Thome would be the one I would select.

People didn't want Sox players to play in the World Baseball Classic. Why should they want Sox players to play in the All-Star Game?

wheres the AJ love? Hes in the top 10 in the AL for God's sake1

First off, yes the voting is a travesty. If the players were allowed to pick I think AJ, Crede, Dye, and Thome would be headed to PA. Unfortunately odds are 0-1 of them will be going which is crazy with the seasons they are having.

Secondly, Ozzie is managing the game folks. Isn't that a reason to watch? Also as you remember we got to host games 1 and 2 because of the old all star game.... you do remember this yes?

AJ > Posada

I bet the final vote will have all white sox if the current voting trends hold up.

The All star voting is repulsive...since this game counts for home field for the WS, which we may be playing in, I would want a complete team out there. I don't want Ortiz at 1B and Giambi backing him up....horrible defense that will cost the AL runs. If this were just an exhibition game that's one thing, but when it may become important to the Sox, I want the best team Off. and Def.

It will be interesting who Ozzie picks to bring from the Sox to round out the team.

Honestly and truthfully, I just don't want to see Manny, Fat Papa, Jason Varitek, or Johnny Damon in there. The rest can stay.
EDIT: I don't want to see Robinson Cano, either.

id made it just starters, because the voring update had just came out, and it had 4 yanks, 4 red sawks. and there is 30 on an All star roster
