Nice interview. However, it is not in Sports Illustrated (SI), but Sporting News.

Thanks! I have been looking for Iguchi's take on that play.

Iguchi mentions an interesting point; you aren't allowed to backhand balls in the Japanese game. In Saduharu Oh's book, he mentions that backhanding balls often gets American players benched for a few games in Japan. That was back when American baseball wasn't exactly sold on the idea either.
