Not an easy play in the sun...but if he sees the ball thats a catch no problem. I'm glad the scorer resisted the temptation to call that an error since those are always ruled hits. It would have been bad enough having Zambrano get a no hitter after giving up an earned run. Would have been worse if it was b/c of friendly scoring.

I'm sure those fans in RF are telling Jaques good job and nice try and things of that nature.

Stable but critical condition. Don't take bat-beatings likely. We doubt water cooler will ever fully recover; expect permanent dents to the orange facing, and possibly some scratches along the white underbelly.

Tragic.

I deeply respect the Cox/Schuerholz regime, but if they're going to turn the managerial position over to Pendleton, it'll pay dividends when they get into the postseason. Just to make them more intriguing, as losing in the postseason doesn't seem to bother them.

waiting for word if it was towards a Brave Player, WGN indeed indeed changed the subject while the game was delayed.

That play was positively Royals-like. Utter incompetence. Jones catches a routine deep fly for the sac fly. He throws the ball into Neifi who lets it carrom off his glove. The Braves baserunner who was on 2nd is heads up and keeps on going. A good throw would nail him at the plate, but Neifi airmails it, allowing the runner on first to get all the way to third. Neifi gets two errors on the same play.

Yes, he dropped the cutoff enticing the runner who started the play on 2nd to try to score. He picked it up and airmailed it to home, allowing the player who had started the play on 1st to advance to 3rd.

And he just K'd to start off the 9th.

All I can say is...heh heh heh...wow. That is one of the funniest displays of a team self destructing I have ever heard. They tell me on the Score that the Jackass is tossing a no hitter, but walked, like 37 people and gave up a run. Then, I hear he's out after throwing something like 130 pitches through 6 innings. Curiosity gets me as I see on MLB Gameday that the Braves are trying to make a comeback. I tune in just in time to hear Dempster walk in a run. The rest is pure gold. All I could hear was the crowd BOOOOOING, and Santo, well....was he actually weeping ? My Old Style players of the game would be Ryan Dempster and Nefi Perez. Don't worry though Cub fans, because the Tony Womack era part II is about to begin. Your season is saved !

so satisfying!

AMEN!!! I'm one of those who in light of our World Series championship really felt it was a waste of energy to give the Cubs a second thought, however in light of everything that's transpired since Barrett hit AJ with that cream puff and the continued antics of Zambozo, I'm enjoying this Cubbie Blue Meltdown for all it's worth.

Hey, I can multitask, can't I???!!! :D:

In related news, Mark Prior threw 45 towels of which none were hit and Kerry Wood blew bubbles in the bullpen none of which popped.

You cannot stop the greatest three pitchers in history - you can only hope to manage a few hits.

I really want to make an obscene joke right now, but decorum and my future existence on this forum prevents me.

Worst part of this is that somehow the sox gave them their one win in this streak, refuseing to accept the victory that the cubs was offering up to them

It is hard to lose to the cubs right now- you have to work at it.

And we did....Uribe making a bad throw and Konerko giving a lame attempt to get it....Then Ozzie completes the brain fart by not putting BA in the game to catch the fly ball from the Punk.

The Cubs, and their actual loyal fans, should be grateful Lamebraino blew the no-no. Had he done it, or even won, it would have given the team false hope that they can turn things around. Now that it's painfully obvious, they can back up the truck, and sell off anything of value ( starting with the Tribsters selling the team ) and start all over again. Of course, as a Sox fan, I enjoy the present regime.

This meltdown is just brilliant, I'm sorry. From going to a no-hitter to blowing a 9th inning lead is classic Cub.

Today's collapse was almost as funny as the Bartman game, as Cub-choke hilarity goes. Gotta love it!

In advance, let me say that I am not making this up.

I don't know, but Zamboner is what he calls his tool to the ladies. I am not making this up.

He hit on a friend of mine and said, "You want to take the Zambonor for a spin?"

She just laughed at his face and walked off.

nicely done.......no commentary would even be neccessary.

Ditto. I would love to see Mike, Tom, and Crow do a Cubs game. Brilliant!

I need to find the stat on the Braves' come from behind wins this season. I know it ain't many. Insult to injury to insult...

Just a gratifying defeat on so many levels. I heard this smug comment from a Cubbie troll yesterday while Zambrano was working on his no hitter:

"This is the start of the turn around. I'd be interested.....I'd like to look up Houston's record from last year around this time to see where they were at. I think they had the same record as the Cubs do now, and people were calling them dead."

Yeah.

He probably asks the women if they want to see it point to the sky, and when he gets the cold shoulder, he starts pouting and gets thrown out of the bar.
