Buerhle now 3-0 since the Cubune asked us if we were worried about him. For the record, Garcia is 7-0 since the Cubune asked us if we were worried about him. WE NEED MORE CUBUNE POLLS!!!! Are you worried about Garland?

Good pitching battle between Buerhle and Haren. Fortunately, our guy was better.

Dare I say that Bobby Jenks is rounding into form? He looked outstanding the last two nights. When he gets that curve over for strikes he is FILTHY. Thornton seems to be picking it up too. As DJ said during the game, if he's going to throw strikes he's going to be one of the dominant relievers in the game. Maybe the BP is figuring things out.

Also, sweeping the A's? That deserves a :supernana:

This just might be where we start picking up a full head of steam. Following this 5-1 homestand with a 4-3 or 5-2 roadie, plus 2 out of 3 against the Rangers, could set up a helluva challenge for the Tigers. If the Tigers scuffle going in against the Yankees and Red Sox, we're up on them by a game or 2 going into this series, and we just completely outshine them, they could really tailspin.

We could be talking about Barrett's suckerpunch to our grandkids.

Good game to go to once again, and it's always nice to see sweeps, especially over teams we've not done well against lately. Buehrle really stepped it up after allowing his one run in the third inning. Jenks dominated at the end.

It was pretty annoying, however, to see the ENTIRE ballpark involved in the Wave for what seemed to be an entire inning in the 8th! The upper deck started it, and it trickled down to the lower deck (as well as the skyboxes and club level).

I just saw one broom the entire game, which was pretty shocking.

Sadly, there were no squirrels this time.

When Jenks gets his slider and curve over, he's close to unhittable. And, uh, so much for the theory that he can't pitch well unless he enters with no one on base.

Haren was nasty -- getting that ball up in the zone to Pods was his one big mistake. It was great to see the Sox start laying off his splitter after taking some early bad swings at it. This is a game that, in past years, we'd have handed to Oakland.

Just heard the Tigers have the best ERA by almost a full run over the 2nd place team, the White Sox. The next ten games will show us if the Tigers are legit (Clev, NY, Bos). I don't think they'll win 9 out of 10 again.

The clutch hitting against a very tough Haren was outstanding tonite. Pods did a great job of jumping on the one high pitch he got. And Thome cut down his swing a smidge to get the line drive.

Mack is hot. He will probably sit against Lilly on friday but I hope ozzie rides him against righties.

Jermaine was clutch with the catch at the wall.

I sometimes pinch myself on getting Jermaine as easy as signing him up at a discount and really filling maggs spot with better defense and more power , bigger arm and solid average. And clutchness. Thanks KW.

I didn't see you there, but then of course I don't know what you look like. I tried to look for people in 520 slightly resembling Dennis Franz, but no dice.

Jenks was filthy. That's a tough strikeout in Kendall, I thought the lead was in serious jeopardy when he came up because of his propensity for contect and Jenks' history with inherited runners. But he was on, hence he was unhittable.

Yep, that was a curveball - and absolutely filthy!! I don't think many players could have hit that pitch.

If Bobby can pitch like last night consistently, we're looking at one of the dominant closers of the game, although this was the only time this year I've seen him pitch like that.

On the radio Farmio said that Bobby's curveball is clocked at about 87-88 mph.

The curve ball that struck out Kendall ws indeed 90 mph. At least, that's what the board at the game said.

Must have been something wrong with Comcast's radar gun then. Everything seemed about 10 mph slower than what it should have been reading.

There was something wrong with the TV gun on Tuesday, also. It was clocking Nelson in the 60s and Cotts in the 70s. I know Cotts's fastball is faster than 77 mph.

Ozzie's postgame was priceless. When asked about the Cubs and Frank leaving he goes, "I hate da Cubs and Frank I just want to get out. Good nite"Ozzie was on point throughout last night. When asked about Uribe, he said that he talked to Hermie and that Hermie said everything was okay, and that "his brain was okay. I told Hermie to stop lying". Not sure if that was the exact quote, but that's the flavor of it. Nice.

Yeah that thing had some serious gas on it for a breaking pitch. From the side it almost looked like a fastball, but then it threw me off that Kendall would take such a funky swing at a heater.

He has 2 curves...He does throw a slower curve than high 80s. The one he threw to (I think) Blanco on Saturday was nasty.
