View Full Version : Sweet Jesus I Hate Chris Berman

I know I'm not covering any new ground here, but I re-watched Game 3 of last year's ALDS today, and am still astonished at how partisan Berman was for Boston. Uribe hits a double off the monster to start a 2 run rally-Chrissy yawns. Trot Nixon pops up to shallow right after Papi and Manny go back to back, and he bursts into apocalyptic fits thinking-hoping, I'm sure-that it was another homer.

My favorite though was the last out, when he doesn't say the White Sox sweep or win their first postseason series since 1917, but something like 'the Red Sox are world champions no more-there dream season is over.' Hurl.

Let us hope that we get prime time playoff games this year, or Berman goes back to football or nicknames or midget wrestling or whatever the hell he did before ESPN let him soil a baseball broadcasting booth.

As an aside, I went to Game 4 of the World Series last year, and happened to be standing near the entrance where the ESPN guys came out on their way to the booth where they did their pregame show. Peter Gammons walked out, and I asked him how he thought the Red Sox would do today. Not sure if he heard me or even got the joke, but it felt good to get it out of my system.

As awful as Berman was, there is one moment in ALDS Game 2 that is becoming sweeter with each listen:

my god. i just read the entire origin of the "you're with me leather," story and just had to laugh my ass off. what's even better is that neil everett referenced the story during a sportscenter when he was covering the rangers/yankees game. i have even more respect for everett now... too funny.

I didn't think Berman was terrible. There were some moments he showed tht he was partial to the wrong Sox. However, I would take him over Buck ANYDAY. No doubt about it. Fox needs to dig deep in their pockets and hire Scully for future games.

Actually the main highlights occurred AFTER that game on ESPN... you could literally see Berman fighting back the tears after we swept Boston away.

I'll agree to this. Even though Berman is biased, he did show emotion. Buck on the other hand, was a dead horse the entire playoffs.

Let's just say that both of them sucked ass big time. It's basically like comparing horse **** and cow ****... I don't care how you look at it, bottom line it's still ****!!!

OH, a little horse is better than a dead horse. Sorry, you have to check out another thread to get that one.
