Several people I talked to last night at the COTC had the idea that perhaps we should do another one this year. However, since SoxTalk pretty much opted out of this one, the suggestion was made that we do this one on our own. So I decided to email Kurt and he sent me a half-dozen dates where he can reserve about a couple of hundred seats.

I would like to know two things:

1) Would you go to another patio party this year (or to your first one of the year if you didn't make COTC)?

2) Which of the dates below works best for most of us?

Four of the dates Kurt sent me are July 3-6 (Monday-Thursday). Kurt didn't like the shorter turnaround time to get things set up on these dates

The other two dates were August 14-15 (Monday-Tuesday). Weekends apparently are pretty much booked, as per an earlier discussion we had about last night's date. These dates give us a better turnaround time and give people more time to make a decision, get their money in, etc. So I guess you know what dates I favor.

Let me know what you think. I'll get prices in the next couple of days too, if they're any different than this time.

July if possible, I'm down for any day. Definitely won't be missing this one. I bet there will be a pretty cool fireworks show on the 4th ey?

EDIT: Was too excited and just flew through your post, August would be cool as well, any day.

The 4th of July is a 3:05 start, which doesn't seem to be right, considering what day it is!

1) Yes, It'd be awesome to go again.

2) I'd have to say I really don't have a preference as far as either series, but I would say that I doubt I could make it to the July 4th game. I will probably be doing something else with the family.

EDIT: I'd also have to vote for either Mondays. It was nice with the half price tickets, much more affordable.

They like having national holiday games in the afternoon. Everyone has the day off, gives people something to do

Many people have Fourth of July commitments (out of town / family barbecues / taste of Chicago / et al).

July 3 might work out as people would have the 4th off (but that doesn't help the people out of town)

August 14 would be another half price Monday saving us $14 each on the tickets (but not a thread about kids announcing / on the field :redneck ).

I think August 14 is the best date (for turnaround, no holiday absences, half price night, etc.) but July 3 would probably be the best second choice (due to the fact most people are off the following day).

Thanks again for putting this together.

I'd prefer the July games if I was to go again, But I would try to make either one if we had another. I just know the first week of August I am out of town, then the next week I have 4 games, 1 against the Yankees, and all 3 against the Tigers. So another game that following week would be tiresome, but I'd still want to make it.

My two cents:

1. Dont do it on July 5th. That's a teacher voucher night(75% off)
I have access to order forms for that day.

2. Try and set it up on monday or wed night games. We'll get the discounted patio(30 bucks instead of 40).

Hal, I would definitely be interested in a WSI fest and I think the latter dates in August would be better to get the money in and reserve all the slots. I had 4 with me this time and could possibly have many more next time as my brother had a great time and would most likely bring a group of his friends next time.

So if i have to vote, I say the August dates would be the right choice for planning and getting more people to commit.

EDIT, I just realized that if it is the July dates, they fall on the week of my fishing trip to northern Wisc with my buddies. So if I were to go, August it is!

Okay, I've given this a couple of days and the concensus seems to me leaning more towards August than July, so now here is my dilemma. I already have tickets for a Joliet Jackhammers game on Monday, August 14, so would there be any major objection to my making it for Tuesday, August 15 since I'd kind of like to go, too (assuming the price is the same for both dates)?

I really like the July 3rd Date. I like the Idea of having a ton of fun and NOT having to work the next day. Its a WIN/WIN situation. Everybody Obviously prefers a WEEKEND date, but those are all gone considering the SOX success.

This is probably the ONLY TIME we can Have one of these Get-Togethers and have an Open Day the next day. I think we should really really Consider doing July 3rd. HECK, why dont we tell the SOX we'll do BOTH. The Price is very worth it, and I'll bet we'll see 2 different sets of WSI'ers at both of these events.

Other nites are ok, but you have to Leave Work Early/Fight Traffic/Get up next morning way early .............

Although, because you teach, you probably didn't have to take the afternoon off to go. You could just leave at 3:30 or 4 or whenever school gets out. It might be different for some other people.

You're very right about that. However, I had to be sure I left school immediately after the kids (3:05). Coming from Des Plaines, I have to leave my house by 4p to give myself 90 minutes to get down to the ballpark... and even leaving at that times cuts it close.

All I'm saying is that while it's hard to go to a COTC game during the week and have to get up early the next morning and function, it can be done.

Due to the better turnaround time (sorry to those who picked July dates) and my own selfish reasons (for the Tuesday date where I could actually go), I emailed Kurt yesterday and asked him to reserve August 15.

Details as they come available.

I'm confused....:?:. Did Robi win the White Sox Charities raffle already? Did Mrs. ARow play for the Sox last year and earn a WS ring like her hubby? What's going on here? Please explain.....

It's much easier to ask sometimes than to read through 100 posts.

edit: Upon strenuous searching....Phew...I found the date. August 15. When we get tix?

I am very seriously considering making the point moot and just taking Wednesday, August 16th as a vacation day. Whyever else do I work for a non-profit and have a month of vacation?
