Up until the early 90's, the White Sox would take batting practice last. Since then, they go first and the visitors last. I noticed that most, if not all, teams also have the visitors go last. When I was a kid I remember how much fun it was to watch the Sox take batting practice just before the game started.
Was this done to give the home team some rest before the game started? Did the Sox follow other teams by switching? Were they the first or was it league wide?
Also, does anyone remember the rumors that they switched becasue the Big Hurt didn't want to take batting practice in front of the fans?
