A.J. SUSPENSION?
I cannot see any reason for it to happen, if it does it will be for the wrong reason, an assumption that A.J. was going after Barret.

We've all seen the video,
Think about this, ever try and work your way through a crowd, twisting and turning your way through it and isn't your shoulders dipping down to avoid contact with anyone as you do so.

A.J. did exactly that to get to his helmut he clearly still had his wits immediately after the play, as for barret he was a little shaken up, and his comment to a A.J. right before the punch shows that he regained his wits as well, Barret's suckerpunch was truly taken out of frustration and I hope MLB will see it as most are reporting that it was a clean and part of a the game kinda play and that A.J. did nothing to provoke the actions of Barret.

If AJ receives any kind of suspension, I might finally believe that there's some kind of "conspiracy" against the White Sox.
 :D:
But seriously, AJ did nothing wrong, so there's no logical reason to suspend him.

If he were, the union would file a grievance, and MLB would lose at arbitration. But it would say something -- bad -- about MLB.
Seriously, isn't what Barrett did criminal assault? Isn't there a White Sox fan at the State's Attorney's office willing to ask for an arrest warrant, delivered, oh, how about the second inning?

There's no way AJ should get suspended! He didn't DO anything!!

The only way AJ might get a game or two is if MLB decides that little shoulder thing was a taunt that provoked Barrett. From some angles it looks like he did lower his shoulder into Barrett as a message, from other angles it looks like he was simply trying to go for his helmet. It will be a topic of debate at the league offices.

I'm guessing AJ will be fined as a PR move by MLB, but not suspended. The play was clean by all accounts, and Pierzynski backed off after he was hit.

Anderson will get suspended for perhaps three games for his throwdown of John Mabry, but he just earned a whole lot of new respect in the Sox's locker room. Maybe this will be a turning point in BA's season.

My guesses: Barrett 7 games, Anderson 3, Mabry 3. Fines for Pierzynski and Podsednik for tackling Barrett.

So you think Mabry should get suspended for being Anderson's punching bag? Like A.J., Mabry didn't do anything wrong.

I hope the league takes Barrett's jaw boning with Dave Roberts of the Padres on 5/12 into consideration when penalties are dished out. Barrett popped off to Roberts as he crossed the plate and almost institgated a brawl.

I apologize if this was already posted elsewhere:

Roberts had stolen third with a three-run lead and scored on a Mike Cameron double. The normally mild-mannered Barrett turned his head and said something to Roberts as he crossed home plate. There was no physical contact between the two, but the Padres started to spill onto the field and umpires had cool things down before issuing warnings. After Roberts left the field, Barrett was still motioning to the Padres dugout.

I thought I saw Mabry mixing it up before Anderson took him down, but I could be wrong. By the time that happened it was a mess out there. If Mabry was simply in the wrong place at the wrong time, I stand corrected. But why, then, was he thrown out of the game?

Same reason A.J. was I suppose. No reason.

I'd be stunned if he gets anything. Maybe a fine, but a suspension would seem steep for someone who basically was in the wrong place at the wrong time.

We'll see.

I completely agree. That incident happened just last week and the similarities are stark. Both times Barrett was the instigator to empty both benches to what otherwise had been a routine play. The only difference this time is that yesterday Barrett threw a punch. I guarantee the White Sox have already called and reminded the league office of that incident.

Throw the ****ing book at him. Now let's see if MLB has the balls to do it? Barrett deserves 5 games minimum.

Not only Roberts last week, but he went at it with Oswalt last summer also. He's a hot head. I'm guessing 5-7 games.

AJ does not deserve a suspension. Not for nothing though is how there will be lots of guys that will congratulate Barrett for the cheap shot. I love AJ but there are others in baseball that don't.
