View Full Version : Ozzie Guillen Quote Of The Day 5/20/06

"I think it was pretty gutless on their part—him hitting Michael when he didn't even have the ball," Hill said. "That's not how you play the game. If he had the ball and he hits him, that's fine, that's how you play it. But you don't go around just running over catchers. What if he injured him and he didn't have the ball? That's not the way you play the game. … It was pathetic." — Cubs starter Dick Hill

Here's the Ozzie Guillen Quote Of The Day in response to Hill:
"Tell that Triple-A [bleep] to shut the [bleep] up. Tell him to start throwing some strikes or he's going to get Dusty fired." — Ozzie Guillen

Manager for Life: Ozzie Guillen.
I second that nomination.
I also propose that once the technology becomes readily available, they put Ozzie's brain in a robot body, so he can be manager forever.

of the link?

Aside from Ozzie's comments, of course.

Hill used the same phrase to characterize his pitching.

Good job, a**hat. Get.out.now.

Given that the number of stupid people in the world seems to be growing exponentially these days, he should never find himself at a loss for words. :D:

Does Hill realize that since his catcher didn't have the ball, he had no right to be blocking the plate, and that any contact is strictly his own fault?

Hill may have thought he was playing in one of those 'simulated games' that Kerry and Mark are always playing. :dunno:

Hill walks the bases loaded, then gets 20 minutes to warm up again during the fight and comes back out to walk Podsednik and them give up a grand slam. Sounds like another solid Cubs pitching prospect to me!

Ozzie's blast of Hill was the best hit of the day. Everything about the Cubs organization is low class from their tooth pick sucking manager to the front office to the low life team on the field. The Sox are fighting to defend their World Championship while the Cubs pick fights because they know they were going to get beat - again. The Cubs need to take care of real business before they become the '62 Mets. Meanwhile we Sox fans have real hope for another World Series.

If you're blocking the plate, you are going to get plowed. Ball or no ball. End of discussion.

As far as Hill is concerned, why don't you actually win a game buddy, then maybe your opinion will be worth a ****!

Based on Hill's comments and Barrett's comment to AJ about not having the ball before he slugged him, it is pretty obvious that the Cubs players do not even know the rules of the game. It is no wonder the 40,000 idiots that fill "The Urinal" every game don't know anything about the game. It is because the idiots are watching a team every day that don't know the game either.

Maybe Hill is the same guy as the banned WSI poster who called himself "AntiSox".

Ozzie: you can come over to my place anytime, dude. Drinks are on me. Always and forever.

Tying Hill's stupidity to Dusty's demise. Vintage Ozzie. Spraying in all directions and letting it fall where they may. He's awesome.

Other things that upset Rich Hill yesterday because "that's not how you play the game:" (this is Rich Hill's guide to baseball, much like shoota's scoring system)

- Tadahito Iguchi's Grand Slam - Gooch, don't you know that when the bases are loaded, you are only allowed to hit the ball on the ground. Pretty pathetic.
- Joe Crede walking on four pitches. - Joe, it's pretty gutless to not swing at one of every four pitches, at the very least.
- A.J. Pierzynski and Juan Uribe walking in the second inning. Guys, the object of the game is to hit the ball. Don't just stand there and take pitches 2 feet off the plate. That's not how you play the game. How pathetic.
- Tadahito Iguchi's 2-run HR in the 5th. Look, the score is 5-0. With the Cubs offense, that might as well be 20-0. Stop swinging for the fences and look to hit a nice ground ball double play to speed up the game and not embarrass poor Rich Hill. That was a gutless act, Gooch.
- Freddy Garcia's pitching. Look, the guy in the other dugout doesn't know how to throw a strike that isn't hit hard. Humor him and give up a few runs. Don't show him up by getting all high and mighty with your "I know how to throw strikes" act. That's not how you play the game.

Really? LMAO!

These baseball fights are always revealing about how secure everyone feels about their place on the team. Remember the Tiger fight in 2000? The biggest fighters were scrubeanies Robert Fick and Karim Garcia.

I guess Rich Hill knew the score even before he made that stupid comment yesterday.

On Comcast, they are doing pre-game interviews. A reporter asked Dusty, something to the effect of can you understand Ozzie's response to Hill's remarks? To which Dusty replied, he could totally understand, and he had had conversations with Hill previously, not about this incident, but they did talk about his remarks this morning before he left. He said sometimes a young man speaks more than he listens. Indeed sir.

na na na na hey hey, young Hill, good-bye. Don't let the door hit ya where the good Lord split ya.

In honor of this hilarious ozzie moment, I think we need to pull out some of Ozzie Classic quotes...

one of my personal favorites was his rant about buck showalter.

He had great stuff in there but ended with this:

"There are so many different things he might be jealous [of]...I was a better player than him, I've got more money than him and I'm better looking than him."

During the pregame Sunday Ozzie elaborated more when media asked him about the comment by Hill again saying

"Who is Hill? That piece of **** that pitched yesterday?"

Luckily I tivo'd it so I can enjoy it for years to come.

From http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseball/cs-060521lookback,1,5305146.story?coll=cs-home-headlines:

Best Guillen quote (Part I): On Rich Hill's assertion that Pierzynski's slam into Barrett was "gutless": "When you make a comment like that about a cheap shot, you don't know the game. When everybody knows ... even Michael says he overreacted. And then somebody who comes from nowhere says that's not the way to play the game. Tell Mr. Hill to shut up and pitch before he gets sent down."

Best Guillen quote (Part II): On Hill being sent down to Triple-A Iowa: "You see how much power I have."
