Kittle42 was right on the money, except for closer:
Let's beat the ST and Trib to it:
1B - Konerko - not much of a contest with Derrek Lee hurt
2B - Iguchi
SS - Cedeno
3B - Crede - again, no contest with Ramirez sucking bad
C - Pierzynski
RF - Dye
CF - Pierre
LF - Podsednik
Bench - Sox
Manager - Guillen
Starting Pitchers (in no particular order) - Contreras, Garcia, Vazquez, Buehrle, Maddux
Closer - Tie - pretty damn close - Jenks has more saves, and Dempster's been very good
Although, while looking at the comps over my morning coffee, I didn't realize Aaron Rowand still plays for the Sox. I thought he was a Phillie, my mistake. Oh well, if the newspaper publishes a picture of the Sox CF in a Sox uniform, it must be correct.

Nice to see our friend Phil Rogers is the one who wrote the piece. I really need to go out and buy his book sometime this week. I also really wish he would post here more. He is a very insightful Sox fan.

I love how Rogers is the only writer on the Cubune who has the guts to point out Pierre isn't that good. Of course, that's probably because he's a Sox fan.

Hey Chet, what gave you the impression ARow left Chicago? I saw him at the ring ceremony.

How come there was no Maybe next year for Manager?:cool:Okay, I'll swing from this tee. Because the Sox won't be playing the Marlins or whomever Dusty is managing for in the NL.

Giving myself a pat on the back the all tribune team looks an awfully like mine except I gave the edge to Jenks for being on a winning team. Damn my arm hurts from patting myself LOL:D:

The Sun-Times runs a similar "All City" team article, and they give the Sox the edge at every position except CF and say that Maddux has the edge over Buerhle.

This was pretty much the easiest "All City" team to call that I can remember. The only debatable position is closer ... maybe shortstop.

I thought it was pretty much on target. I liked him picking Rowand and Lofton for CF

Until Dempster gave up that three-run home run to Mike Piazza, who knew he had converted 26 save opportunities in a row?
I thought it was 22 in a row, but I could be wrong.

Jenks' earned-run average is soaring, but he has been good in the only stat that really matters, save success (11 of 12)
I know it's 12 of 13.

So, at least 1 maybe 2 mistakes, and I haven't even gotten to the choices yet!

Anderson has the better arm, but somehow, Pierre has a higher average

. . . but a lower OBP, a lower SLG, and (therefore) a lower OPS.

How'd they put Carlos "1-Win" Zambrano on there?

Is this idiot serious?

Where the Sox have clear advantages over the Cubs:

1) DH - such as it is.
2) 1B - with DLee out this is a no brainer
3) 2B - Tadahito does everything a second sacker should and more
4) 3B - Joe Crede is much better on defense and better on offense
5) RF - JD vs JJ this one is close?
6) CF - Pierre throws like Damon, BA defends like nobodies business, hits like a nobody
7) LF - Pods has been throwing some leather and hitting .300 for a month.
8) SP -maybe one of the five Cubs would make the Sox rotation, maybe not

Where it's the Cubs advantage
1) middle relief - Howry and Eyre have been solid

Where it's even
1) SS - Uribe vs Cedeno
2) C - AJ & Widge against Barret & Blanco
3) Closer

If Rogers wants to please his bosses then just title the article
"The All Suck Up to my Cubune Bosses Team"

just don't purport to be even-handed.

I agree, that was pretty funny. While I'd like to think that BA has an edge on defense, I haven't seen JP play enough to justify that. Both have been atrocious at the plate, but JP appears even more lacking in the leadoff role. JP's OBP would be a terrible leadoff man batting average, which should tell you something about his batting average. The Sox have the luxury of moving BA down in the batting order, and his lack of production hasn't hurt the Sox nearly as much as JP's has hurt the ScRubs.

Huh? :?:

That's basically the exact team Rogers has. And there's no maybe about Maddux.

So how is he an idiot and where is he trying to please his bosses? :?:
