OBP nearly 90 points above batting average....that's a good sign.

He's coming off of a serious injury.

And to be fair, that's 50 points higher than Anderson is hitting.

:rolleyes:Young isn't hitting major league pitching.

I was kidding. I like Anderson. But I also liked Young. Waaay to early to start "Young will never pan out" threads.

Why does he only have 1 SB? This isn't Anderson's replacement, this is Pods' replacement. He really needs to have a high on base % and more stolen bases. Anyone know how his D has been?

Actually, we're talking about Eric Byrnes' replacement.

Podsednik's replacement (theoretically) is Jerry Owens. Owens' AVE is down, but he's had no problem stealing bases this year.

Pods' replacement needs to be someone who can get on base at a .350 clip minimum...steals are secondary.
Of course, I consider his "position" to be lead-off hitter; that can come from anywhere on the field.

Pods' replacement as lead-off hitter needs a .350 min OBP, agreed. But he also needs some steals in order to be an effective disruptor of the defense. His drawing throws, forcing the pitcher to slide-step and generally divy up his concentration is much more effective than his simple stolen bases.

I'd be delighted if we can get both; they are hard to find. OBP trumps steals, imo. for leadoff hitter. That said, if Pods had only his .350 OBP without the steals, I'd be hoping for an upgrade.

Neither is Anderson.

Oh gosh! I feel dumb. I guess I got them confused...again. I did the same thing last year when I saw Birmingham play.

Josh Fields could be a possibility down the road as a LF.
