from today sun-times

Don't doubt for a second that Sox general manager Ken Williams won't at least make inquiries about Hunter's availability. Hunter is just the type of player Williams covets, and if rookie Brian Anderson continues to struggle, Williams' interest will increase.

Why the heck would we want Toriiiiii Hunter?

Anderson is a very good outfielder, could be great, and Toriiiiiiii certainly isn't a great bat. He is average at best IMHO.

This sounds like BS.

This sounds like BS.

This comes from Joe Cowley's article on the decline of the Twins. He's just speculating that the Sox "could be interested" in Hunter if the Twins decide to unload him. Don't read too much into it. I doubt the Twins will trade Hunter to a division rival, particularly the White Sox.

It's the author's opinion that KW will probablymake inquiries as to Hunter's availability. It means absolutely nothing. KW is a GM, that's simply his job.

Good point...just because its in the paper doesn't mean its the truth!

Not that I'm skeptical about the media or anything...

Another Toriiiiiii Hunter thread??? Are we going to have another one of these every week just because some numb-nuts columnist thinks it's a good idea?

No Toriiiiii Hunter. Don't need him. Don't want him.

I hate that guy.... I know we all disliked A.J. before he became a Sox but Hunter I could never cheer for... well extreme circumstances I guess... 2outs bottom of the ninth clinching game of the W.S. but otherwise.. hell no

You'll see Andrew Jones in a Sox uniform before Hunter. [No teal]

Exactly.According to the Crap City Cable Company
(you know them better as ESPN),the Yankmees are
verrrrrry interested in Hunter,Shannon Stewart and Aubrey Huff:o:
as possible replacements for Matsui. That wrist injury will sideline
him for possibly 2 -3 months.

The last thing the Sox need to do is replace a light-hitting plus-defense CF making league minimum with a light-hitting plus-defense CF making 6m a year. Where does this crap come from? Torii Hunter? Inner-division trade with a rival? Ugh.

Mike Gonzalez is approaching his service time benchmark for Free Agency soon (getting my hopes up..).

Is he any relation to Andruw Jones, the Atlanta Brave?

PROBABLY ONE AND THE SAME.

Yeah, I think a guy like Hunter will be coveted by the Yankmees enough where no one else will have a chance, and I tend to agree the Twinks will not be anxious to trade him to the kings of their division. However, If BA doesn't get up to .250 soon, Atlanta keeps floundering and the Phillies/Mets keep it up...that's why KW has a cell phone. Players always say they want to play on a contender.

Yeah, I was thinking only the Yankmees and Blow sox would be willing to part with the cash that Hunter makes. We're not taking on that kind of salary for a minor upgrade.

Mike Gonzalez is approaching his service time benchmark for Free Agency soon (getting my hopes up..).If Toriiii was making only $6M, he might be staying in Minnesota. He's due $10.75M this year with a $12M option for 2007 ($2M buyout).:o:

I'd be willing to bet that when 2006 goes into the record books, Brian Anderson will have equal or better offensive numbers than Hunter.

My sources tell me that KW could possibly be interested into looking into the availability of Pujols, Cabrera, Santana, Tejada, Papelbon and Guerrero.

Bank on it.

I know the Flubbies are kicking themselves for giving so many years to Jones,
knowing they were always interested in Torii Hunter

Idiotic. Anderson and his $330k salary are well worth it.

He makes way too much money. If we can get a backup OF to take Gload's spot as the 25th man, I would do that, but I see no reason to give up good prospects and big money for Hunter.

Pujols for Gload and Rogowski is in the works. Supposedly St. Louis is really impressed with Gloads left-handed power.

In a heartbeat! BA has many more years ahead of him and he is a future Gold Glover. His bat will come around, I'm not worried. Look at Crede. Also, we do need to make three outs each inning, otherwise the game will never end.

So will I. Give him time, he's gonna be a stud. Credes bat wasn't the greatest either when he first came up, but look at him now!
