View Full Version : Thome, Others to use Pink Bats Sunday

Saw this on the 6 oclock news, Louisville Slugger is making special pink bats with the breast cancer awareness ribbons on them for mothers day. Thome will be using one for sure as well as Jeter and many other Major Leaguers. Thome is very much endorsing this, as his mother was a cancer victim (he quit chewing tobacco because of her cancer). Good Sign of support by Thome, a guy who realizes as great as baseball is, there is much more to the world.

Interesting. Hopefully the pink paint gives the guy some more pop.

I guess I can live with pink bats but I hope they don't go to a pink ball.

Not that I know of. But it would be an odd coincidence if it was true, right?

it would be great if thome hit three dingers with that bat, and then decided it was his lucky bat and used it for the rest of his career(it would never break, for it is the wonderbat).

Is Thome the only Sox using the Pink Bat or are there going to be a limited number produced?

I don't care much for this idea either. Imagine the audacity of a player trying to draw attention to a disease that affects millions by using a pink bat during something as deadly serious as a baseball game!

It's a great gesture for a disease that threatens so many women in our country. This will definitely help increase awareness, but America is doing the best they can to help solve this problem and create more awareness. I happen to think we are doing a great job increasing awareness for breast cancer.

Rowand wore some pink armbands during the game on ESPN the other day, which I'm assuming was for cancer awareness.

This is a great gesture, and hopefully somewhere down the line this actually helps. Compare this to Barroids, who refused to wear the pink armbands for Sunday Night's game.

EDIT: He refused to wear the pink ribbon over his heart that EVERY OTHER PLAYER in the game wore. Only select players wore the wristbands.

Good for Jim. My aunt recently was diagonsed with breast cancer, so I'm a huge supporter of breast cancer awareness. Men also do get breast cancer, too. Rod Roddy, the announcer from the Price is Right, died a few years go from breast cancer.

It sure is nice that MLB is donating a buck to the breast cancer foundation for every 20 dollar hat they sell. 1 dollar!! That's pathetic.

Yeah, you'd think for ONE DAY they could donate all the proceeds to such a good cause...kinda dings an otherwise great PR move by MLB.

I also liked the blue balls post. Maybe the post of the week!
