Jim Delsing, an outstanding defensive outfielder who played 10 seasons in the American League but was remembered mostly for his role in baseball's most famous stunt, died Thursday at his home in Chesterfield, Mo. He was 80.

His grandson plays for the New England Revolution.
Father, Tim Twellman, played professionally for the Minnesota Kicks, Tulsa Roughnecks and the Chicago Sting (NASL) ... Uncle, Steve Twellman, also played in NASL, including the 1974 season with the Boston Minutemen ... uncle, Mike, played for the NASL Chicago Sting ... Grandfather Jim Delsing played 17 seasons of Major League Baseball ... Uncle Jay Delsing is a member of the PGA Tour ... Twellman was offered a professional baseball contract by the Kansas City Royals but opted for a soccer career instead
