It's cloudy, windy and chilly. In other words the perfect setting for the next round of Athens (Boston) vs Sparta (New York)

To build up hype ( as though that is needed ) a NY tabloid and a Boston tabloid ponder the Clemens derby.

We can expect Bronx reentryJohn Harper: The Fight for Rocket: Let's just say that Roger Clemens is so intrigued by one last shot at glory that he will choose either the Yankees or Red Sox over the convenience of playing at home in Houston. Is there really any choice?FULL STORY (http://www.nydailynews.com/front/story/416044p-351534c.html)

Fitting finale suited for Sox Tony Massarotti: The Fight for Rocket: Ashes to ashes and dust to dust, and for Roger Clemens, that can mean only one thing. He comes back to Boston. He finds closure. He completes the circle that is the career of the greatest pitcher who ever lived.FULL STORY (http://www.nydailynews.com/front/story/416061p-351552c.html)

I know people outside of the Northeast are sick of these 2 teams but you gotta admit the games between the 2 usually live up to the hype. But both teams have to keep in mind Toronto not going away.

Hope it's a good game Fenway. Not a BoSox fan, but definitely pulling for them to beat the Yankees.

Of course, I'll be watching the White Sox, so I hope to catch the score or highlights from the Yanks/BoSox on ESPN at some point.

If he wants one last shot at glory then look no further. I'm sure he could fill in for Contreras while he's temporarily sidelined.

I honestly think he is coming back to Fenway. The chance to go ahead of Cy Young maybe very important to him ( along with the $$$$ )

But you can be sure he going somewhere. His last game will not be a loss to Mexico.

No way KW can outbid those two teams. Someone is going to throw $15M or something ridiculous at him. He's not worth more than $5M to the Sox unless Contreras is out long term. Flubbies might get into the bidding though...

Yeah, Fenway any confirmation that these games will be on ESPN? I'd really love to hear Peter Gammons and the crew yap about the curse of Ruth, Bucky Dent, Aaron Boone, Pedro throwing Zimmer, Johnny Damon, Josh Beckett, Karim Garcia, Jeff Nelson, Bucky Dent again, the fact that Ruth played for Boston, Aaron Boone, Ruth, Damon, The Idiots, Big Papi, Kevin Millar, Big Papi is David Ortiz and the fact that Ruth played for Boston before being traded to the Yankees!!

Their starting pitching, aside from the rookie Janssen, has been spotty. But doc hallady looked real good yesterday and against the spankmees a couple weeks ago. i went to the jays-spanks 16-7 rout that weekend and towers looked awful.

Why does ESPN carry so many Bos/NYY games? Simple....RATINGS.

Bos-NYY generates 3 times the ratings than any other teams and that is considering ESPN is blacked out in NESN and YES viewing areas. People ARE watching.

That's right, the victor gets the chance to be humiliated (again) in the playoffs.

ESPN also shows scrabble matches and guys playing video games. That doesn't make it good T.V.

To the best of my knowledge, Dean Martin never appeared on Lawrence Welk (although if I'm wrong, I'm sure Torn will let us all know).

Don't get the Liza reference. What, does she sing NYNY after Yankees games when they lose?

BTW, did you cover Game 6 of the 2001 WS when the D'Backs beat the crap out of the Yanks? The sound guys at BOB played the Frank version of NYNY--and the look on Torre's face was priceless. I will remember it until my dying day! (Sweet, sweet!)

The NY tabloids are livid this morning

As an angry George Steinbrenner put it as he left the Stadium in the top of the eighth inning: "I'm upset at a lot of them." Then The Boss, who left at a time when all the non-Sox fans were going or were already gone, singled out a culprit who particularly irked him, snapping, "The third baseman!"

The booing started in earnest after David Ortiz's fourth-inning double and got louder once Randy Johnson started trudging off the mound. Johnson, who was wilder than he's been all season, bore the brunt of fans' frustration last night, but the slumping starter wasn't the only one in pinstripes who deserved blame for the Yankees' awful 14-3 loss to archrival Boston.

When is "cloudy, windy and chilly . . . the perfect setting" for weather on the Peloponnese?

If Boston is Athens and New York is Sparta, does that mean Bristol (ESPN) is Corinth (Sparta ally?)?
