My brother told me that he read in either Sundays Trib or Sun-Times that
Bob Odenkirk is shopping Hollywood to produce a movie about Disco Demolition Night. I think he's from Naperville and perhaps a big Sox Fan.
I used to love to watch "Mr.Show with Bob & David" on HBO a few years back.

If this happens, who would you pick to play..
Steve Dahl ?
Bill Veeck ?
Lorelei ?
Jimmy Piersall ?

Anyone heard anything?

Nothing on his IMDB record (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0644022/) suggests this project is in the works.

It's been in the works for at least a year. Dahl has mentioned it off and on during that period on his show.

In that case, if I were casting:

Dahl - Philip Seymour Hoffman
Veeck - Robert Loggia
Lorelei - Pamela Anderson
Piersall - Woody Harrelson

Who would play Harry Carey? It would be cool to see Harry in the Sox booth again, that would rattle Flub fans.

I was living in Arizona at the time and don't know who Lorelei is.

But I think Anthony Perkins has always been psycho enough to play Jimmy Piersall.

Steve Dahl= Jack Black

I thought the project may have been put on hold after that guy "Mr Z" that did the commercials for local Fox programmin died.

I have a great idea for the movie. At the end of Disco Demolition when the cops show up, instead of chasing the people away, the cops procede to beat the crap out of the fans on the field and then a bitchin firebird jumps through the scoreboard and lands in the outfield and the driver is none other than Vin Diesel. Vin then procedes to beat the cops with only a tire iron and a chain. Then the Baseball Furies from The Warriors jump out of the trunk and finsh off the cops. After the fighting is over, Vin and The Furies lead the White Sox to the World Series. The End.

Just an idea.

I'm sorry, but the last thing I'd want to see is a movie about an on-field riot at Comiskey Park.
That kind of stuff doesn't deserve to be glorified in any way.

Dahl- the brother from Ed
Veek- Robert Duvall
Loralei- Jessica Simpson
Piersall- Tom Cruise has the crazy disgust for humanity down well but does not quite have the look.

Other necessary casting that has not been mentioned:

Bill Gleason- Albert Finney

I agree. This isn't really something I want to see made into a movie. Just what we need- the Sox getting some new found respectability with the '05 WS Championship, then a movie gets released showing a bunch of shirtless people tearing up the field, & starting fires. Would kind of perpetuate a tiresome, false stereotype I think.

I was trying to think of a movie psycho to play Piersall, how could Walken
have slipped my mind? Excellent choice.

I like Al Pacino as Harry Caray.

I have a few friends in the comedy scene in Chicago and here's the scoop:

Jim Zulevic, a Second City alum, was in the process of writing the screenplay with his friend, Bob Odenkirk. Jim suddenly passed away of a heart attack this January. I have heard that Bob is trying to complete it but there has not been an update on that since Jim's death.

More on his life and the screenplay:

Lorelei was a WLUP personality, who was involved with the DD at the time.
Styx wrote the song "Lorelei" and it may be about her.
