About what I figured, and it's right. Kendall wasn't even hit. Lackey deserved a fine for being a jagbag on the mound and was, but he didn't start the altercation.

I think the league got this one right.

Sounds fair and balanced, but Kendall needs to use the bat when he gets into the box next time.

His elbow is more lethal. :roflmao:

Lackey should have been suspended 4 games as well. It takes 2 people to fight.

Somebody came running at him trying to kick his ass, what was he supposed to do?

Even Bud Selig could figure this out.

Lackey, who didn't hit the batter, solely defended himself against the violent actions of Jason Kendall who has resorted to violence without getting hit by pitch more than one once in his career.

This is like blaming someone for defending themselves after getting hit in the head with a bottle during a bar argument saying they are equally liable. The court (and MLB among other sport leagues) do not agree.

This was the right call. Kudos to Bud Selig and MLB and I hope they dish out a 10 or 20 game suspension minimum if he does this a third time.

"Oh ****, Kendall's running at me in a fit of rage. I'd better lay down in the fetal position and pretend like I'm dead so he'll ignore me."

With the Sox years ago, Jack McDowell once didn't fight back when someone charged the mound. I didn't see it, but read about him complaining that if he knew he was going to get suspended, he would have defended himself. And of course, Robin Ventura was held by Ivan Rodriguez while Nolan Ryan pummeled him at the mound, and Ryan wasn't ejected. Don't try to find consistency in disciplinary actions.

I see a bigger issue in the incident being Kendall's use of body armour while at the plate. It takes the fear out of hitting and seems to have made Mr. Kendall even more arrogant.

As if that's possible.

good. Kendall had no reason at all to charge. HE"S NOT GOING TO HIT YOU WITH THE BASES LOADED AND DOWN 2 OR 3 runs. Its was just a breaking ball that didnt break back

Of topic, has anyone heard him talk about that? Robin, I mean. I think it was during a broadcast on WGN and someone e-mailed Hawk and DJ about it and he said the entire team had decided to charge him the next time they got hit no matter what. He said that if you look he kind of rolls his eyes and then charges. Pretty good story. I haven't seen the film since I heard him.
