Does anyone know where to find video of that? I want to watch it over and over until I drown in a pool of my own drooled saliva (circa DFW Infinite Jest)... was it not one of the craziest catches ever?

I didn't know you were allowed to use foreign objects like tarp to aide yourself in making a catch.

Is that Crede who you can hear yell, "GOT IT!" right after he finally grabs the ball with his right hand?

Yah, I was wondering that as well. I know you can't catch balls as outs off the Green Monster. Anybody have a rule on that?

Seemed a tad shady to me...

Say the ball hits the net behind home plate and AJ catches it? Out of foul ball?

I don't think the ball actually hit the tarp.

it probably depends on the individual ground rules of each stadium. I guess the tarps are legal.

My guess is that the ump didn't see it hit the tarp :dunno:

I couldnt tell if the ball hit his glove first...too hard to tell from that video...anybody see another angle? I'm pretty sure if it hits the tarp first, it is a foul ball....either way, it was a rediculous catch, Crede is the man.

Exactly, it's not legal for the ball to bounce off anything and still be "inplay" (except for the catwalks/speakers at a few domes depending on ground rules...

slow-mo sure seemed it hit the tarp.

On a side note, I've seen people break legs/ankles in far lesser-impacts. Joe was DAMN lucky not to seriously have messed his ankle up the way he went in there foot-first at the angle he did...

Joe Crede would eat a homeless person if you dared him!

I replayed it in slow-mo on my DVR and, in my opinion, the ball definitely hit the tarp after glancing off his glove. It should have been ruled "no catch". Crede was not only great in finishing the play but also in selling it to the ump.

Didn't the ball hit Crede first before hitting the tarp? I think that's the distinction.

It doesn't matter. Once it hit the tarp, the play should have been ruled dead. Crede had a big grin coming off the field, too. I think he knew he got away with one.

Is it just me or do the White Sox seem to be getting these calls now that they are a World Championship-winning team? :D:

Assuming it was in a clutch situation

That's always a clutch situation.

If you put a phonograph needle to Crede's left nipple, it plays the Beach Boys Pet Sounds.

Darryl Dawkins has a summer home in Crede's groin.

In the replay it hits either his glove or the tarp first, then it bounces off of him back to the tarp and then he barehands it.

Good sell...definitely a bad call...BUT if it goes to the Good Guys its a great one.

Yaz once threw a guy out at first off a ball that bounced of the Green Monster.

I was watching at work and gasped out loud, thinking he was going to go down...until I realized he is too much of a STUD to go out like that:D:

Yea, well if Josh Paul would have just tagged AJ... oops. Wrong play. :D:

I was just lurking on an Indians message board and there was a discussion of whether the Sox have been "lucky" last year and starting out this year.

Game-tying homers from Anderson and Ozuna. A passed ball that allows the go-ahead run to score from third. A ball caught off the tarp and still called an out...

I'd rather be lucky than good. :D:

Joe Crede has had so many children, he's sired a baseball team. An orchestra if you count the bastards!

I believe it was Mark Twain who said it best. "The harder I work, the luckier I get." These guys work their butts off. Day in and day out, they deserve it all!

Reading their board reminds me of what we used to say about the Twins in 2001-2004.

Batman & Beviball.....what kind of drugs are you guys on...so I can avoid them?:D:

Pretty funny stuff anyway guys.

I saw the Crede catch & it looked like the ball bounced off the tarp & Crede & then between his legs & maybe he even picked the ball up off the ground & ACTED like he caught it fair & square. Joe deserves an Oscar for that performance......I LOVE ACTING when the White Sox do it so good:wink:

While we are on the Greatness of Crede, does anyone have a link to his walkoff against the Clevelands on 9/20/05?
