8 straight save completions, he's throwing strikes and making outs. He's given up one eraned run since April 12th and that run came in a non-save situation. So my question is, anyone still worried about his weight and velocity?

He has 9 saves, 1 win and has successfully completed at least one game where he didn't qualify for a save. But I don't know about his velocity.

I'm not questioning you. All I know is wins and losses.

My worry about his weight has nothing to do with how he's currently pitching, but everything to do with his future performance, down the road in a year or two or three. That said, I'm not really concerned about it. I think the only reason things like Jenks' weight ever come up is there's not much else to worry about on this team.

That was the whole point of my post.

Wins are all that matter, not the closer's weight or if he's throwing 101 mph.

I would suggest that next year Jenks try to get into top form by mid-March to make Buster Olney happy.

Just goes to show that people freaking out during spring training need to stop freaking out during spring training. Enjoy yourselves, people! The Sox are world champions and the best team in baseball, dammit! :bandance:

I've learned my lesson about hating during ST. honestly, no teams have impressed me much so far but the sox and kittens. i think they'll be a threat for most of the year as their young arms improve.

I was worried that Bobby might be a flash in the pan but he has proven me wrong!

He is well deserving of the moniker "Big Bad Bobby Jenks!"

I wasn't worried, but I must admit that his 13:1 K:BB is a very pleasant surprise.

Jenks + strikes = outs.
