Pablo really brings intensity when he is on the basepaths...I've noticed his improvement since being brought up last year and it seems that he's really adopted the take the extra-base, run everything out mentality....He's quickly becoming one of my favorites

Helluva last 3 innings from Pablo, but let's not forget Joe Crede rescuing the Sox from Corpseball Hell in the 7th (and Thome's 3 walks + Konerko's double, too).

Worried a bit about our relief staff except for Jenks and Cotts. Hopefully it's just temporary.

What a fun game to watch.

Ozuna continues to be a solid contributor off the bench. He gave us a spark at times during our run last year. Tonight was another one of those occasions.

Also, a brilliant effort by Garcia. That will likely get lost because of the shenanigans in the top of the eighth inning tonight.

I just couldn't fathom why they were playing so deep with Pablo on 2nd and a tie game. A single is what you're defending against -- a double or more wins the game automatically.

Grover = asleep at the wheel. But I'll take it.

Tonight's 6 - 5 win against Seattle reminded me of 1983. Winning Ugly! Ozuna was right on tonight; - Clutch HomeRun and great hustle on the double past second base.

We can dominate some games with the heart of your order or we can win by the least most expected player rising to the occasion. Ozuna and Uribe tonight.

Even though we show some warts (aka - Relief Pitching) some time, it is fun to know that we are never out of any game.

Friend, I think they are this years injuns. The Sox will have to beat them down. I think they will.

I doubt it. But I haven't seen the Tigers play this year yet. I look at their pitching staff's runs against and I just can't believe they're going to maintain that sort of consistency all year.

What do you see that indicates the Tigers are a legitimate threat for 162 games? Serious question.

Crede was phenomenal today both at the plate and in the field. His average is as high as I've ever seen it, excluding the 2005 playoffs, and his RBI total has already surpassed 20 and they just played their 27th game! Is Crede on pace for a career year?! SOX WIN! :bandance:

What a sweet win. Ozuna's best game ever.

I really think Politte's problems are mostly mental. I hope he snaps out of it soon, cause neither Logan nor Thornton are ready to take his spot, as they're merely OK where they are now.

I don't hold out much hope that Jeff Nelson can contribute either, as he put up some mediocre numbers (1-3, 3.93, 36.2, .237) in Seattle last season. That .342/.457/.579 vs. left handers is really scary.

Friend, I think they are this years injuns. The Sox will have to beat them down. I think they will.
No, the Tigers are this year's Orioles. They even have their own Brian Roberts; he goes by Chris Shelton.

As for the bullpen, I am only worried about Politte. Thornton was attacking the hitters. The first 0-2 pitch was a little over belt high, and it gets called a strike maybe half of the time. After that, Bloomquist got a BS lucky hit. He then retired the next guy. I am very high on Thornton at this point. I think he could be right up there with Cotts by the end of the season.

As for Cliff, I really hope he turns it around. He wont be on the roster too long if he can't. It isn't too hard to find a right handed releiver with an ERA below 9.:(:

Now, to the defense. Crede, aside from his homer, was unbelievable once again. He made a handful of plays that very few 3Bs make. Anderson's catch in the 9th was unbelievable. It ended up saving us a run, and the game. Maybe a few people on this board will now recognize how good he is?
Probably not.

I can't find one thing wrong this post. Most def' on the same page.

When are people going to realize that JOE CREDE IS NOT A FREE AGENT NEXT YEAR!!! I REPEAT... JOE CREDE IS NOT A FREE AGENT AFTER THIS YEAR.

Easy there killer. So I was mistaken. No need to get all angry about it. :?:

Even though 'minnie me' has been banned, I'm sure he'll still wake up tomorrow feeling like Pablo.

Definitely a fun ending to the game. Always a pleasure seeing the gang (Iron Fisk, chisoxfanatice, The Dude, Chips, Dump Jerry) and it was nice to meet yet another member (Fabs). For the nightcap, I bumped into jenn2080 and her bro on the Belmont platform after the game. Word.

Sig update time.

I just couldn't fathom why they were playing so deep with Pablo on 2nd and a tie game. A single is what you're defending against -- a double or more wins the game automatically.

Grover = asleep at the wheel. But I'll take it.Reed should have gone balls out after that pop fly. Instead he pulled up and seemed surprised he had no play at the plate. :kukoo:

What a bizarre conclusion to what began with two stellar pitching performances. Meche and Freddy must have been suicidal . . .

Hawk (for once) actually understated how great Crede's play was to throw out Bloomquist. The tapper hit the edge of the grass and bounced so far to Joe's right that it might actually have gone foul. He made a perfect adjustment and throw.

Oh yeah, the grand slam wasn't bad, either. :gulp:

Great win, but that 8th killed me, seemed like we had their hitters down in the count on every at-bat. Granted they had some bs hits, but so was Ozuna's double.

What is Crede's staus next year?

Playing so deep did help the M's on the many well hit fly balls that were caught on the track in the later innings, but it came to bite them on the last two ABs.

Yeah, it was a tough play all the way, but you just knew clutch Crede was gonna make that play and the throw--he's such a lock at third on D-

Hell yea, that was an awesome game to go to! There were a bunch of people who left after the 8th inning...Shame on them! But, it was pretty loud after Ozuna scored the winning run in the 11th!

Pablo Ozuna and Joe Crede played their hearts out, making up for our bullpen's woes. I give a :gulp: to that!

Oh, and the cowbell still lives!

There were plenty of people that had to be kickin themselves in parking lot when the boomers went off...SUCKS FOR THEM

I was a bit upset at Pablo for his lack of hustle in right after that roller got past Paulie...for a sencond it seemed like he was content at jogging toward the ball and letting the run scored...I hate that...BUT it's hard to hate on the guy right now...

They could make a movie about that game, but I'd only want to watch it once....

AWESOME game as it turned out! Great to catch up with the "gang" as always - and MUCHO thanks to my personal "ticketmaster" :D:.

We actually made our way to the fan deck in the 9th, where it was close to a riot when Pablo launched his! By the 11th, it was thinning out, but still just as crazy!

Woooo Hoooo!!! My hex is lifted!

Record: 1-2

As for the bullpen, I am only worried about Politte.

As am I. I thought Thornton pitched okay for the most part, and Jenks and Cotts have done very well lately. Even Logan had a fairly good outing last time out.

This game reminded me of the playoffs. Even when we were trailing by a run, I had a feeling that things were going our way anyway and that something incredible would happen. And it did, we won and I think it's a chemistry-building experience for this part-old, part-new team.

How crazy is it for Pablo to get his first ever mlb homer in that situation?

I am so relieved that we actually got the win this time- sleep well everyday eddie.

Joe showed a huge arm on that play to get bloomquist, plus the ball hit the edge of grass and kicked right at the last second- joe you are awesome.

Exactly 1/6th of the season is complete and joe is on a 126 rbi pace.

Freddie had command tonite and deserved a better fate but he has gotten a couple of lucky wins this year also. He had his baby daughter in his arms in the locker room after the game and he looked happy.

The pen needs a reliable righty with our lefty heavy crew. Cliff made a mental mistake on that pitch to bloomquist. but he pitched with no confidence and he needs to keep going out there and battling. We got no alternative.

Bobby pitched well and changed velocity more tonite. But he probably cant go tomorrow.

Seattle has a tough everyday lineup. No easy outs really. If their starters come thru they will be in it.

It seems like every day somebody steps up. Tonight was Pablo and Joe. It's just a great team to watch. I also hate all this talk I am hearing about Brian Anderson. The kid needs time to get his bat going, but look at the defense he puts up. He is hands down the best centerfielder on our team, and has been playing like he's been roaming the US Cellular field for years. A run saved is as good as a run earned, and defense will save quite a few runs.

Great game! And kind of a funny story:

We had a Contracts review session today that started at 3 and went til the last question was asked and answered. Needless to say, a couple of us were there "watching" the Sox game online. When Crede hit the Grand Slam, we were quite happy, but pretty silent. By the time the 9th rolled around, there were only about a dozen of us left in the review session. When Pablo tied it up, my friend and I jumped out of our seats. The other 10 people in the room were totally clueless as to what happened.

The review session wrapped up shortly after 10 (yes, 7 hours!). My dad gave me play-by-play on my 15 minute walk home, so I heard the winner live that way. So I get home and, don't kill me for this, but looked at my Sox tickets for the year and realized I actually had tickets for tonight's game. I'm actually glad I forgot I had them b/c I would have gone and missed out on some crucial studying. Oh well, all in all, what a night!

I didn't see the whole defensive set up (just the TV highlights) but the M's lack of D gave us the win: Reed's lack of coverage turned Pablo's single into a double and turned Uribe's pop-up into a game winning hit. He looked like Roger Dorn on that play: "what do you expect me to do? Dive for it?"

That's 2, 2 out none out 9th inning homers we've hit against the Ms to tie the game this year...by the 9th then 8th spots in the batting order.

Crazy Pablo singlehandedly defeated the Mariners last night. Just crazy.

Even though the team played like Little Leaguers, they still won. That game really shows how good the Sox are in a strange way.

True Grinder baseball at it's best! God I luuuuvvv this team! When Crede came up with bases loaded, I said come on Joe this is your time and don't swing at the first pitch unless it's in your wheelhouse! And he listened! :bandance: Hawk's call was awesome as usual. Way to go Pablo and Uribe! :gulp:

Watched the highlights and Pablo's double reminded me of something: I was at the 4th of July game back in '97. Roberto Hernandez blew a 3 run lead over the Wrong Sox in the top of the 9th. Ozzie leads off the bottom of the inning and hits a little flair over the second baseman's head and legs it in a double. He then proceeded to score on two wild pitches by Heathcliff Slocumb.

Great game. Will be remembered as the Ozuna game. Great catch by Anderson to save the game. And even though I am a recovering Crede unbeliever, when they put Pierzynski on to pitch to Crede I said "Uh-oh big mistake." You knew Joe was not going to miss that opportunity.

But back to Ozuna. To turn that routine single into a double he must have had it in mind right out of the box. That is how you play winning baseball! I didn't see it live, but reading the account of the game I assumed the hit must have been a bloop down the first base line that ended up in foul territory against a wall or something. How on earth could he get to second on a single to center that was not mishandled? Amazing.

CHICAGO -- A day after Eddie Guardado blew his third save opportunity of the season, manager Mike Hargrove decided to go into another direction as to who will close games.

"We're going to back off Eddie as being the closer right now," Hargrove said before the Mariners faced the Chicago White Sox on Thursday at U.S. Cellular Field.

Cue the evil laughter.

first, I'd like to thank Palehose13 for giving me the opportunity of seeing one hell of a game..

was it worth the 8 hours of driving to see the game? you bet your ass. i couldn't imagine starting the '06 season off with a better game. that was truly awesome; and it's cool to see the fans get into it. PABLO!! and I started yelling when I saw the catcher put up his arm to intentionally walk A.J. I think everyone around me thought I was crazy because I just kept yelling Mr. Clutch and that the M's hadn't watched the month of October last year... glad Joe didn't let us down..

P.S. does anyone have video of Pablo's dong? i looked on whitesox.com in the "top plays"; but for some reason they left that one out. if they do, I'd really appreciate it.
