i know there's already a thread on the reds, but wouldn't it be really neat if by some miracle they made the world series and faced the sox?

I'm blaming you if we don't make it to the Series

I heard enough about the black sox from the media during last year's run that I think I could do without a sox/reds rematch, despite how sweet it would be.

Would be pretty cool, but I highly doubt the Reds keep this up. It's only a matter of time before their pitching starts getting torched.

Eh, you never know. The National League is looking pretty mediocre again this year.

Eh, you never know. The National League is looking pretty mediocre again this year.Even by NL standards, their pitching sucks. They're 11th in team ERA at 4.55. That would translate to over 5 in the AL. Think 2005 Baltimore Orioles.

You get tired of the same teams going, or threatening to go, to the WS (think Atlanta, NYY, Boston). It would be cool, IMO, if the Reds somehow made it, although like some have stated, they probably don't have the pitching. I've always kind of liked the Reds (maybe my brain is Schott :D: ) and admittedly have a soft spot for so-called "small-market" teams. The only people who would bring up the Black Sox thing would be some mediots and jealous Cub fans, and I've chosen to ignore both of those groups.

Their pitching, IMO, is not good enough to sustain a long run. And they may be in the NL, but they're also in the same division as two of the top teams in the NL (Cards and Astros). I think it would be good if they could somehow pull it off, but realistically I don't think they can do it.

Yeah you're probably right, but it would be cool if they could make it. I lived there as a kid and will always have a soft spot for the Reds.

Heck I thought the same thing in 1990 when the Sox were in contention and Cincinnati was running away with the NL West.

Think

I hope Cincy stays hot and do it in the event the Sox win the pennant again. That's just easy prey right there.
