I'm tired of these Indians fans booing Thome. I say, lets show them up and show Jim Thome who loves him with a nice, big, loud, standing ovation Wednesday night!!! Who's with me?

ehhh...I don't know. He's not that great...
Oh, Jim Thome?
Yeah, I'm all for a standing O. Even if the Toon fans don't appreciate him, we can show him that we sure as hell do.
I loooove Jim Thome!

I think it's a great idea but feel it's even more important that we do it in full force the next time Cleveland comes to Chicago. Do it in the face of the Indians fans there and all their players.

Yup! But tomorrow would be nice as well, due to the immediacy.

Wish I could be there to join in, but I will be watching on MLB.tv, and I'm expecting to see the usual WSI effort.

On another, semi-related note, cheer the hell out of Big Frank May 22.

Otherwise this is a pot/kettle situation.

I had said this in the postgame of the Cleveland game, look forward to it.

Reifort agrees:

Talk around the water cooler, in chat rooms and even in our clubhouse continued to focus on Jim Thome's reception Monday night in Cleveland.
Many called it the worst they have ever experienced. Guys had been giving Jim **** for a week leading up to Monday about how nice his reception would be, how it would be a love-in of a homecoming. The results were just the opposite.
Someone came up with a great idea for tonight. Our fans should welcome Jim back with a standing ovation ... the one he did not receive in Cleveland. I bet he will acknowledge the fans.

So true, both should get standing ovations.

I'll give him that standing-o tonight, and I think we should do it for every at-bat.

It looked to me like a good chunk of the crowd gave him a standing ovation. It was definitely a bigger response than the normal first AB reaction to him, so I would say the crowd was well aware of the events in Cleveland and reacted accordingly to them.
