Right-hander Jose Contreras of the Chicago White Sox
has been named American League Pitcher of the Month for April.

Contreras led the AL in ERA and opponents batting average
(.185) and tied for the lead in victories. He made five
quality starts and combined with Cliff Politte and Boone
Logan on a one-hit shutout of Kansas City on April 17,
the first combined one-hitter by the White Sox since May
25, 1979 vs. California.

I'm 1/3rd of the way to my "random prediction."

Three different White Sox pitchers will win AL pitcher of the month.

:bandance:

Congrats, JC. Well deserved.

Not a surprise, he kicked ass all month and hopefully will do it all season long.

Does it still count if the same pitcher wins 3 different times?

No. Not only doesn't it count, but as a penalty, Jjav has to insert a carnivorous earwig into his brain. :bandance:

You geeks just have to get over this Star Trek obsession! Sheesh!

If you really want to punish Jjav, make him do the twist with Uma Thurman while John Travolta looks on, machine gun cocked.

EDIT: Woo-hoo! No doubt I'll get a correction from Daver about how you don't cock a machine gun. So make that "machine gun leveled."

That might be the wackiest and funniest thing I've read on this board since I joined. :D::bandance:

As much as we all may hate the Cubs, I think most of us can somewhat respect Maddux and realize that it is pretty cool that two Chicago pitchers won pitcher of the month in the same month. But, Contreras is still better.

I wonder if he'll be the number one pitcher in the rotation by the second half.

Shoot, he should get an award for "Pitcher of the Last Half of 2005 and the first month of 2006". Ironic that he got the only loss during the playoffs.

The last time I saw a Sox righthander this dominant was Hoyt and Dotson in '83.
