Huge night for Podsednik obviously with 4 hits and 4 swipes. Is this going to finally get him some confidence to get his stride back on the basepaths?

And go Jenks.

Vazquez continues to impress me with each outing. His ERA would be hovering around Jose's if it wasn't for that one inning against the Jays. Congrats to BBB Jenks as well to bail out Cotts' bad 9th inning start.

When you really get down to brass tacks, Brandon just had a bad game. Otherwise it wouldn't have been stressful on us fans! Hey, pitchers have bad days. It's always nice to win a game when a reliever gives up four runs. How often does that happen? Usually if a reliever gives up that many runs, you don't end up winning.

Cleveland sucks!

I didn't agree with Javy throwing behind Belliard. He should have drilled Boone instead.

I also didn't like Pods not running in the top of the seventh. Martinez hasn't thrown a runner out all season.

Great to see Thome get that RBI in the ninth. Stick it to the Tribe's classless fans.

Nice pitching by Javy and Jenks!

They all can't be pretty, but the White Sox continue to do what they do best - WIN.

Positives - Pods, Konerko, Vasquez (looking sharp), and Jenks (blew 'em away!), and Burls is going tomorrow. And another road win vs. Tribe. I'll gladly take it, with all that drama.

3-K's and one sawed off bat... I think Bobby had an okay game... Give the big man a donut, he deserves it.

Great ending to a game that shouldn't have been that close. Got to give Hafner credit, there wasn't ANY doubt when it left his bat, but the Sox still won the game.

Haha. Well, I typically do not worry about any teams until after Memorial Day. But it's much easier when it's a 2 team race as opposed to a 3 or 4 team race. We also do not see Detroit until June I think it is, so as long as we keep taking care of business, we'll be fine.

Good to see Pods have a big game, and maybe this will boost his confidence and get him going. Still, so far he does appear to have lost a step or maybe a half step. If he ever gets his form back, the Sox are going to be nearly unstoppable.

Detroit's got a pretty good club. If anything gets them, it will possibly be a lack of depth during the dog days of summer. I don't know their bench or minor league system very well, but I would be surprised if their bench was as deep as ours.

That was a kick ass baseball game. The best of the year by far. It doesn't matter if we win tomorrow, this game was so huge. I know there aren't really any huge games in May, but this game was huge for me to win because of the booing of Thome and the way he responded with a huge base hit. Personally, I don't give a damn what the Tigers are doing. But if you really want to talk standings, we are putting Cleveland and Minnesota in a hole with this winning streak. That is a huge positive. I'm confident Detroit cannot beat us head-to-head. They might be 17-9, but they are 0-3 against our White Sox.

Slocum learns the hard way that you can't mess up against the defending world champs!

Since 1996, Jim Thome has a total of six stolen bases. And, with a guy on third base, Slocum was trying to pick Thome off of first or keep him close? That's just terrible.

As they wrote on Yahoo MLB, the Indians were playing some "comical baseball", which of course was fun to watch. The first half was fun and relaxing, the second - a nailbiter. But all's well that ends well. Great job Scottie, Vazquez, Bobby, offense.

Great positives with Bobby and Pods. McCarthy just screwed himself with the count. Overlooked is a great start by Vazquez.

I will not be one bit surprised if burls goes inside early to send the message that you dont fricking hit AJ and you dont throw at Jimbos head.

Since it is getaway day it would be a good day to hit someone, get both sides warned and then let it simmer til the indians come back to town.

I still think our bullpen is just not getting enough work to be real sharp early unlike most bullpens. But it will work out fine cuz in Aug when their arms are falling off our relievers will then be fresh and sharp.

Macarthy just needs to throw strikes ,like all relivers. boone did that and it was fine. Cotts was fine til he couldn't locate. They all have good stuff.

Paulies homer was impressive with the wind against that liner to right. And big Jims hit in the 9th was sweeeet and important insurance.

Keep it going ,go burls, CC is going down again tomorrow.

Man, it got a little scarey there. It was good to see Bobby Jenks come up big time in the ninth. Sloppiest game I've seen in a long time. The Indians gift wrapped this one for us from the 1st inning on and we still had to sweat it out at the end. Belliard was brutal at second. He really makes me appreciate Iguchi, despite an error tonight. The Indians defense really sucked. Glad it's only a two game set out there, cause it may be contagious. I think we smoke 'em with Buehrle tomorrow. And Mark, don't bother drilling Boone. We once again may need him to impersonate a croquet wicket at third while we have the bases loaded.

Ha, thanks. Yours ain't half bad itself. (I like the soxfan part.) It was a play that Tadahito would make nine times out of ten. He just had trouble getting the ball out of his glove. He is one fine second baseman. I still don't believe the "underhanded, toss in midair" play he made a couple of weeks ago. I wonder if anyone has come up with a name for it yet. It seems to deserve one, as it was incredible.

Relax, Detroit will start to fade once we play them again.

I don't want the Tigers to fade; part of that goes back to me rooting for the Tigers in the old American League East and part of it has to do with the fact that I want the White Sox to be pushed to play their best all year.

I want White Sox tough for the playoffs; and I prefer a tough regular season to the way the second half of the regular season 2005 played out.

Overlooked is a great start by Vazquez.
He might have been overlooked by us, but he still got the W, and keeping Cleveland's high octane offence in check has to really boost his confidence. Not that he really needs it or anything these days.

Dye is available for today's game, but with a strained calf muscle, why risk making it worse?

Just caught the jenks three strikeouts replay on mlb.com. SportsCenter had only 3 minutes of time left after the whole episode on Mirabelli chauffer incident/Damon lovefest.
Anyway, Jenks breaking balls looked filthy, especially the one that put Martinez away!! 8 for 8 in save opps. Very nice!

That was brutal. If he can develop a backdoor curve like that, other teams are in big time trouble. He's been using the curve more like a sinker, letting it fall out of the zone because he throws so hard that guys have to guess quickly if it is a strike. You saw that with Hollandsworth at the end, who swung at two pitches in the dirt at the end. The curve to Martinez was just flat nasty...

but its so damn frustrating
we haven't gained anything
detroit keeps winning too, we should be pulling away.

You think it's frustrating for US, imagine how THEY feel! :D:

I was listening to the first couple of innings on the radio on the way home and Farmio and Singleton thought Boone's collision with Pierzynski was accidental. Other people who saw it on TV thought it was intentional. What was it? Anyone want to put a bet on Buehrle drilling Boone his first time up?
